You might recall that we began this week with a blog on Monday about the Chinese plans for a lunar catapult "cargo launcher", which, as I pointed out, was really a weapons technology that can be used for other "more peaceful" purposes. The principle which I articulated in the blog is worth repeating here, because it forms the core of much of what I've written on this and similar topics: in such cases, one is not dealing with a peaceful technology which can be weaponized, but rather, with a weapon which under certain circumstances be repurposed for peaceful uses. This is important, because in my opinion this is the principle under which space will be (and probably already has been) weaponized. With that in mind, this article was shared by J.Q., and we are particularly grateful that he spotted it and took the time to share it:

NASA’s asteroid-smashing mission has permanently knocked a moon off its orbit

This is a particularly intriguing article is one ponders it from the standpoint of the above principle as an interpretative template. Consider what the article states:

In a groundbreaking study published in the Planetary Science Journal, scientists have uncovered some unexpected results from NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission. It turns out that when DART slammed into the asteroid moon Dimorphos in 2022, it didn’t just leave a dent – it completely reshaped the celestial body and potentially set it on a chaotic new path.

First, a quick refresher: DART was NASA’s test run for planetary defense. The idea was to see if we could change the course of an asteroid by hitting it with a spacecraft – kind of like a game of cosmic billiards. The target was Dimorphos, a small asteroid moon orbiting a larger asteroid called Didymos.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. According to Derek Richardson, a professor of astronomy at the University of Maryland and a lead researcher on the DART mission, the impact did more than just nudge Dimorphos off course. It dramatically altered its shape.

One notes that the article casts the whole NASA DART mission in the context of "planetary defense", and that means that kinetic impact itself is, primarily, a weapons technology. But what is intriguing to contemplate in this respect is that the DART mission is implying the emergence of something new: a "celestial impact mechanics" which will be based on the composition and make-up of a target object and how it responds to impacts in specific circumstances (vector of impact, velocity, shape of impacting object and so on), and how all this might influence special types of systems that are tidally locked, and so on.  In short, it is no longer feasible to imagine a kinetic impact simply destroying or nudging a target "off course". One might also be able to envision such a science as being the birth of a new kind of celestial materials and systems engineering.

In a sense, all the above amounts to the beginnings, perhaps, of the "second chapter" of ballistics. Just as the nineteenth century - with the improvements of forging technologies, materials and alloy engineering, chemistry, and so on - ushered in the whole field of ballistics and the enormous improvements in artillery weapons, projectiles, aerodynamics, propulsion powders and so on - that scientific development was quickly brought to a high pitch of development. The technologies and therewith the physics have been endlessly tweaked from then until now, but that is the point: the basic principles were quickly established, everything else was tweaking.

What NASA's DART mission seems to have done, in other words, is to suggest that we're on the verge of a similar period in "celestial ballistics," if I may so put it. The questions to be answered - at least from this "ballistics standpoint" - are intriguing, and the article has already indicated some of these. How many of these will be made public in the coming years remains to be seen, but for now rest assured that as the article avers, more missions are being planned, and the phenomenon is going to be studies closely, for in tidally locked systems, it's best to have a thorough understanding of the effects of kinetic bombardment before one actually begins the kinetic bombardment.

Two new studies, published on Aug. 28 in Nature Immunology, find that increased salt levels can significantly enhance immune cells’ cancer-killing abilities.
One of the two studies also showed that mice who consumed a high-salt diet also had reduced tumor sizes as a result.

“We were very surprised to see that salt instead improved their vigor, metabolism, and killing function and that this also reduced tumor growth in [the] mouse model,” Dr. Christina Zielinski, lead author of one of the studies, told The Epoch Times in an email.
“Salt turned out to be a surprisingly simple [but] overlooked factor” in boosting cancer-killing cells’ effectiveness, Zielinski, who is also the Chair of Infection Immunology at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, added.
While research suggests a salt-based approach could become a valuable tool for enhancing cancer treatments, the researchers said in a press statement that they don’t recommend eating more salt in humans to activate the immune response against cancer.
Salt Enhances Killer T Cells
Researchers from the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology–Hans Knöll Institute discovered that sodium, a component of table salt, can significantly boost T cell activity. T cells are a type of immune cell that fights cancer.

Killer T cells, specifically CD8+ T cells, are essential for identifying and destroying cancer cells. They recognize cancer cells by their cancer proteins and release toxic substances to kill them directly.
The study led by Zielinski showed that human breast cancer tumors have higher levels of sodium compared to healthy tissue, and adding salt helped T cells fight cancer, leading to better survival rates for patients.
T cells treated with salt were also added to tumors in cell cultures and in mice. Researchers found that salt helps T cells use sugar and amino acids better, resulting in a better ability to eliminate tumor cells.
“We were able to show that sodium enhances the immune response of CD8+ T cells,” said Chang-Feng Chu, a co-author of the study in a press release.
Further experiments showed that “pancreatic tumors shrank in the mice after we injected them with T cells pre-treated with salt,” said Chu. The salt improved T cells’ metabolism and energy levels by activating a special pump on the T cells.
“This pump enhances calcium entry into the cells, setting off signals that boost CD8+ T cell activation,” added Zielinski.
High Salt Diet Reduced Tumors in Mice
A separate study from IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Italy, led by Enrico Lugli, found that adding salt to cell cultures can awaken T cells, increasing their longevity and anti-tumor action.
Mice fed a high-salt diet also had reduced tumor growths due to improved T-cell activity, the researchers found.
Lugli stated in a press release that adding salt helps prevent cells from becoming exhausted too quickly. It also improves T cells’ metabolism and energy, making them more effective against cancer.
The researchers found that adding salt to T cells caused a similar effect as exposing the cells to immunotherapy drugs that enhanced their activity.
Study co-author, oncologist, and researcher Agnese Losurdo, said in the press release that a higher sodium level in the blood is associated with a better response to cancer immunotherapy.
However, the authors said that a high-salt diet “is not readily translatable to humans because of the consequences it could have on the cardiovascular system.”
They suggested that instead, T-cells can be exposed to high levels of salt for a short period of time before being transplanted into patients as a form of cancer therapy.
“Our results demonstrate that sodium chloride significantly impacts the functionality of CD8 T lymphocytes, crucial cells in the anti-tumor response,” Lugli said.
According to the team, while these findings are promising, they need to be confirmed in clinical settings.
Caution is Key
These findings add to a growing body of evidence suggesting that salt boosts the body’s immune response against cancer cells. A 2019 study from Belgium showed that a high salt diet in mice slowed tumor growth, compared to those that were not on a high salt diet.
However, caution is essential. Despite these promising results, Lugli stated that simply increasing dietary salt intake won’t have the same effects and could be harmful.
A recent study from earlier this year found that people who regularly added salt to food had a 41 percent higher risk for gastric cancer compared to those who rarely or never added salt. Research also shows that excessive salt intake can lead to cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, and stomach cancer.
Lugli added that the benefits observed in the studies are about manipulating salt concentrations outside the body to boost immune cell activity. Zielinski agrees, adding that the focus is on exposing immune cells to higher salt concentrations in a controlled environment before injecting them into patients.
Both research teams are now exploring how these findings could be translated into clinical settings to advance immunotherapy.

Inside The Terrifying Legends Of The Goatman That’s Been Seen In Maryland And Texas For Decades

Half-man and half-goat, the mysterious beast known as the Goatman is said to stalk forests and lurk beneath bridges waiting for the next victim in his murderous rampage.

Maryland and Texas each have their own tales of the Goatman — but the legends are very different.

At face value, the Goatman isn’t all that different from other cryptozoological urban legends. A mythical half-man, half-goat, the Goatman’s name has been used to instill fear in locals for decades.

And like many urban legends, the Goatman’s origins are muddy, with multiple variations of the tale, some involving dangerous scientific experiments, others claiming that he was a vengeful goat farmer.

Even the region in which his story originated is up for debate. While the Goatman has supposedly been seen in the woods of Maryland, folk in Alton, Texas seem to have as much claim to the story as their East Coast counterparts. Some argue that there are, in fact, two Goatmen, who share little more than a name.

In either case, the Goatman legend has become a pervasive staple of American mythology — and the legends are frightening enough to make even the most stubborn skeptic look over their shoulder if they find themself alone in the woods at night.

The Goatman Of Prince George’s County, Maryland
While Maryland’s Goatman was allegedly first spotted in 1957, when some people claimed to have seen a giant, hairy monster in Forestville and Upper Marlboro, the Washingtonian reports that one of the most popular legends involving the Goatman began on October 27, 1971 with an article in Maryland’s Prince George’s County News.

In the article, County News writer Karen Hosler mentions a few creatures from the University of Maryland Folklore Archives, including the Goatman and another figure, the Boaman, both of whom are said to haunt the wooded area surrounding Fletchertown Road.



The piece was a fairly in-depth exploration of the folklore of Maryland, without alleging that the Goatman or the Boaman were real.

But two weeks later, a local family’s puppy went missing. And a few days after that, they found the missing puppy near Fletchertown Road. It had been decapitated.

Hosler followed up with a new article, the headline reading, “Residents Fear Goatman Lives: Dog Found Decapitated in Old Bowie.”

Supposedly, her article claimed, a group of teenage girls heard strange noises on the night the puppy went missing — and other locals had reported seeing an “animal-like creature that walks on its hind legs” along Fletchertown Road.

On Nov. 30 that year, the Goatman was introduced to a national audience when The Washington Post published an article on the incident titled, “A Legendary Figure Haunts Remote Pr. George’s Woods.”

Eventually, rumors about the Goatman’s origins started making the rounds. One popular story says that a doctor at the United States Department of Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville was conducting experiments, attempting to merge human and animal DNA.

The doctor allegedly tried to merge goat DNA with the DNA of his assistant, a man named William Lottsford, resulting in the creation of the Goatman — who has been on a murderous rampage ever since. Some say he was responsible for the 1962 murders of 14 hikers, whom he allegedly hacked to pieces while letting out unearthly screams.

Maryland folklore expert Mark Opsasnick first became interested in the Goatman legend as a child, having known of the legend growing up and gone on “Goatman hunts” with his friends.

In 1994, while working on a piece for Strange Magazine, Opsasnick managed to get in contact with April Edwards — the owner of the decapitated puppy.

“People came here and called it folklore, and the papers made us out to be ignorant hillbillies who didn’t know any better,” she told him. “But what I saw was real and I know I’m not crazy… Whatever it was, I believed it killed my dog.”



April Edwards isn’t the only person to claim to have encountered the Goatman. Goatman sightings were a common feature of three distinct locations in Prince George’s County: a forest behind the St. Mark the Evangelist Middle School in Hyattsville, beneath the “Cry Baby” Bridge in Bowie, and in College Park.

In each instance, witnesses reported hearing devilish screams. Some claim that they have found bones, knives, saws, and leftover food in these locations.

Others claimed to have actually seen the Goatman near Governor Bridge, more commonly known as “Cry Baby” Bridge. The story goes that if you park beneath the bridge once the sun has set, you can hear the sounds of a baby crying, or possibly a braying goat.

Then, suddenly, the Goatman will be upon you, leaping onto your car, attempting to get inside and attack you or rip you out of your seat. It is said that he targets couples more often, and some people say that he kills pets and breaks into houses, dragging his victims back into the forest.



Still, Opsasnick told the Washingtonian that while he believes the locals he’s talked to about Goatman really did see something, he doesn’t believe Goatman exists.

“I can’t believe in something until I see it with my own eyes,” he said. “Anything is possible in this world… Maybe there is a half-man, half-animal creature out there.”

For its part, the United States Department of Agricultural Research Center has shot down the rumors that Goatman originated there. “We just think it’s stupid,” spokesperson Kim Kaplan told Modern Farmer in 2013.

“Don’t you think he would have retired by now?” she added. “Is his great-grandson a Goatman? Is he collecting Social Security?”

But Maryland is not the only state where locals speak of the Goatman. The other Goatman lives further south, in the town of Alton, Texas — and his story is one of racist intolerance that has haunted the area for almost a century.

The Legend Of Old Alton Bridge In Texas
In the mid-19th century, Alton, Texas was a small town that served as the seat of Denton County. It sat on a high ridge between Pecan Creek and Hickory Creek, but despite being the county seat, no public buildings were ever built.

In fact, according to Legends of America, the only residence in the area belonged to W.C. Baines, whose farm had existed since long before Alton’s new designation. As a result, Baines hosted many public discussions in his yard until November of 1850 when it was decided that the county seat would move to a new location.

This new location kept the name Alton, and within a few years was populated by a small citizenship, a blacksmith, three stores, a school, a saloon, a hotel, two doctors, and a few lawyers. In 1855, the town welcomed the Hickory Creek Baptist Church, which remains there to this day.



Unfortunately, Alton didn’t remain the county seat for long, and by 1859, most of its residents had packed their bags and moved to the new seat, Denton.

If it weren’t for the construction of the Old Alton Bridge in 1884, the town would have likely been nothing more than a footnote in history. However, most people now know the Old Alton Bridge by another name: Goatman’s Bridge.

This Goatman, however, did not live his life as a half-man, half-goat mutant. He was, according to local legend, a perfectly normal Black man named Oscar Washburn who happened to make a living raising goats.

Washburn was actually a fairly successful businessman, and had become so popular among the locals that they started referring to him affectionately as “the Goatman.” Washburn too, it seemed, took a liking to the monicker.

One day, Washburn put up a sign near the Old Alton Bridge that read, “This way to the Goatman.” Unfortunately, this drew the ire of local Ku Klux Klan members who hated to see a Black man be successful.

In August 1938, KKK members got in a car, drove it to the Old Alton Bridge, and turned off their headlights.

From there, they walked to Washburn’s home and dragged the Goatman to the bridge where they tied a noose around his neck and threw him over the edge.



The legend goes that when they peered over the edge to see if Washburn was dead, they saw nothing but rope. Washburn’s body was never seen again. The KKK weren’t done, though — they returned to Washburn’s home and slaughtered his family.

Now, if the tales are to be believed, it is said that anyone who drives across the Goatman’s bridge at night with their headlights off will find him waiting on the other side.

Some say they see only a ghostly figure of a man herding some goats. Others say the Goatman stares them down, a goat head under each of his arms.

People have also reported seeing a half-goat, half-man figure, hearing the sound of hooves on the bridge or inhuman screams and laughter coming from the forest and creek below, or seeing a pair of glowing eyes at the end of the bridge.

It’s hard to say how much of the Texas Goatman’s legend was true — historical records don’t show that an Oscar Washburn ever lived in the area. But the story has certainly been powerful enough to draw people to the Old Alton Bridge to find out for themselves.

This is a long story but interesting IMO on how hydrogen bombs work and how some of the fallout stuff we have all heard is inaccurate.

They've claimed that this will not be enforced on companies. Rather it will be an "option."

Yeah, right. Every company will adopt this 160 hours in a month before any overtime is accumulated and paid out. Because, lets face it, this is too sweet for any company to pass up. A nice way of getting around them not "forcing it" on us. Yet, sonehow, i bet it will be.

Project 2025 did indeed call for Congress to allow employers and employees to adopt its proposed model for an increased overtime period, which would indeed make it possible for employers to pay less overtime to employees ...

... but it did not explicitly state that every company should comply with this model. Further, it also suggested another model of 80 working hours across two weeks, not just 160 hours across four weeks.

 

In August 2024, as the U.S. presidential election drew nearer, allegations spread online claiming Project 2025 — a conservative coalition's plan for a future Republican administration — sought to reduce the frequency of employers having to pay employees higher wages for working overtime by calling for a change in the way work hours are counted (archived):




One X post by former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, which had amassed more than 1.5 million views as of this writing, read: "Project 2025 would change the 40hr workweek to a 160hr work-month, so your boss could make you work extra hours with no overtime pay by cutting your hours later in the month."

Similar claims also appeared on TikTok, garnering more than 205,000 views (archived), and Threads.


All three posts referred to page 592 of the Project 2025 "playbook," titled: "Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise."

The third bullet point on page 592 did indeed discuss extending the overtime period "over a longer number of weeks." It read:



Congress should provide flexibility to employers and employees to calculate the overtime period over a longer number of weeks.

Specifically, employers and employees should be able to set a two- or four-week period over which to calculate overtime. This would give workers greater flexibility to work more hours in one week and fewer hours in the next and would not require the employer to pay them more for that same total number of hours of work during the entire period.

But, the Project 2025 "playbook" did not explicitly state a 160-hour work-month should be imposed on employers and employees. Rather, it said Congress should give companies and their staffs the flexibility, i.e., the option, to adopt such a model.

The "playbook" also recommended "two- or four week" periods over which to calculate overtime, not just a 160-hour work-month.

However, given the crux of the claim was accurate, we rated it "Mostly True."

How Is Overtime Currently Calculated?
As of this writing, the overtime period is based on a 40-hour workweek, per the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). According to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL):



Covered nonexempt employees must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 per workweek (any fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 hours – seven consecutive 24-hour periods) at a rate not less than one and one-half times the regular rate of pay. There is no limit on the number of hours employees 16 years or older may work in any workweek. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on weekends, holidays, or regular days of rest, unless overtime is worked on such days.

In other words, overtime is currently calculated as any time worked in excess of 40 hours in a 168-hour period (seven full consecutive days). It should be paid at least 1.5 times the normal hourly rate. For example, if an employee who is subject to overtime receives $8 per hour within their normal 40 hours, then they should be paid at least $12 per hour (1.5 times more than $8 p/h) from their 41st hour of work that week.

What Is Project 2025's Proposal for Overtime Periods?
Project 2025 proposed that companies and their employees should be free to calculate working hours across either 14 days (336 hours) or 28 days (672 hours), rather than just seven days (168 hours). Without increasing work hours overall, this means there would be either 80 working hours over 14 days or 160 working hours over 28 days. 

Therefore, in an 80-hour setting, if an employee worked 45 hours one week and 35 hours the next, they would not be paid overtime for the extra five hours worked the first week, because the total over two weeks would amount to 80 hours. 

The argument was this would not cost the company more money and the employee would benefit from flexible hours over the two or four weeks. However, overtime would start to apply from the 81st hour worked over the two weeks.



This model could also apply to 160 working hours over four weeks. For example, an employee might work 80 hours the first week, zero hours the second, another 80 hours the third and zero the fourth, and not receive any overtime, despite working for 80 hours in the first and third weeks. The schedules might see larger variations from week to week, but so long as the worked hours add up to 160 a month, staff would not receive overtime. It would only kick in from the 161st hour worked over four weeks.

Is this just another way to screw the working class? One step closer to NWO, and the continual marching of the worker ant?

I see this as just a way to make sure we are busy working as much as possible. No more weekly overtime come 2025.
