That pesky annoying thing called The Future keeps creeping up on us and taking a bite out of our collective behinds. The digitization and financialization of literally everything is taking over the world. The problem is, no one is making any effort to educate us on what’s happening, which means we don’t have informed consent in the process.

We are clearly racing at brain-spattering speeds toward a nationless world in which we are all blips in the Internet of Things (IoT). Like Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol, we will all forge our (block)chains in life, which will follow us around like a bad smell for all eternity, or until the alternative power sources crap out.

If you think you won’t comply with all this, and you are reading this article, then it’s too late. You are now part of the take-over. In a process that has been ongoing since at least 16 December 1947, a cyber version of the universe is being created byte by byte, line by line, and it is all being financialized. You will soon be able to buy stock in how much air I breathe.

A key component of the cyber universe is the blockchain. That’s a term nearly everyone has heard of, but I’ll wager almost no one understands what it is, or how it works. So, let’s take a little stroll down the crypto path to see what we can learn. I promise I won’t get into alien technology and reptilian overlords.

SHA-256 (Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit) is a cryptographic function developed by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). It was released by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as part of the SHA-2 family in 2001.

SHA-256 is a cryptographic hash function initially used to secure data through one-way encryption to submarines. It takes an input (any length) and produces a fixed 256-bit (64-character hexadecimal) output. The function is:

• Deterministic – The same input always gives the same output.
  
• Irreversible – It is computationally infeasible to derive the original input from the output (I can’t use the hash to reconstruct the data inside).
  
• Collision-resistant – It is highly unlikely that two different inputs will produce the same hash.
  

Note the conditional statements. The word “impossible” doesn’t figure into it, but the concept of “highly unlikely” is a key feature.

SHA-256 was integrated into the creation of Bitcoin, which was in all likelihood invented by the NSA and their cousins. There is no such figure as Satoshi Nakamoto. Each Bitcoin is immutable—it cannot be destroyed or hacked—and each “coin” carries with it its entire history. Each “coin” is also secure. It cannot be hacked or altered in any way.

Didn’t Trump say something about Bitcoin?

When you hear of Bitcoin hacks, that is someone breaking into the exchanges and stealing code, but the “coins” themselves are never altered, and their history is a matter of record in the open ledger. More on Bitcoin:

• Bitcoin Mining – Miners (not minors) use SHA-256 in the Proof-of-Work (PoW) process, hashing block data until they find a valid hash meeting the network’s difficulty requirement.
  
• Digital Signatures & Integrity – SHA-256 ensures data integrity, as even a minor (not miner) change in input alters the hash drastically (avalanche effect).
  

There is speculation about NSA's involvement in cryptographic standards, but no evidence suggests a backdoor in SHA-256. It remains widely trusted in Bitcoin, SSL/TLS encryption, and digital security. SSL, or Secure Socket Layer, is what is used to verify both sides on websites using “https” encryption, especially in financial transactions.

SHA-256 is fundamental to blockchain technology, particularly in Bitcoin and other PoW cryptocurrencies. Its cryptographic properties ensure security, integrity, and immutability within blockchain networks.
Each block in a blockchain contains a unique hash generated using SHA-256. The hash is based on:

• The previous block’s hash (ensuring chain continuity)
  
• The block’s transaction data
  
• A timestamp
  
• A cryptographic nonce (used in mining)
  

A cryptographic nonce (short for "number used once") is a random or semi-random number used in cryptographic operations to ensure security, prevent replay attacks, and add uniqueness to computations. In other words, it ensures there is only one block in the cyber universe with the given characteristics.

This chaining of blocks via SHA-256-generated hashes prevents tampering—if a single value in a block changes, the hash changes, breaking the chain. Each block is verified by the ones immediately before and after it.

Let’s say you want to create a block with the entire Library of Congress. You put everything in a folder, then use a formula that includes all the contents, plus the timestamp you create it, plus the hash of the previous block, plus a random nonce. This generates a unique string of 64 letters and numbers. If you change any part of the contents, even removing a period at the end of a sentence in one book, the chain is broken and the block is invalidated. If you have all the precise data used to create the block, you can make an identical one, but the chances of that happening are slim to nil.

SHA-256 is crucial in Bitcoin’s mining process, where miners (not minors) compete to find a hash below a target difficulty by adjusting a nonce. The steps include:

1. Miners (not minors) take block data and apply SHA-256 hashing.
   
2. They modify the nonce repeatedly until the hash meets the required difficulty level.
   
3. The first miner (not minor) to find a valid hash broadcasts the new block, adding it to the blockchain.
   

This process secures the network by making block creation computationally expensive and resistant to attacks. In short, SHA-256 ensures:

• Data integrity – Any alteration in a block would require recalculating all subsequent hashes, making tampering practically impossible.
  
• Collision resistance – No two different inputs can produce the same hash, ensuring unique identification of blocks. Essentially, I would have to know the precise timestamp and nonce used to create a block, and the chances of that happening in any reasonable universe are beyond calculation.
  

SHA-256 is used in Bitcoin address generation and public-key cryptography. Private keys are hashed using SHA-256 and RIPEMD-160 to generate Bitcoin wallet addresses, ensuring secure ownership verification.

Now, if your sanity is still intact after all that, the upshot of all this is that when the world has been converted to full digitization, your entire life history—every life event, every purchase, every sale, every asset, every liability, every creation, every spoken or written word, every grade in school, every relationship, every medical intervention—will be immutably recorded in your personal blockchain, and it will follow you beyond physical death. There will be zero identity thefts, but the price is zero privacy.

From an historian’s perspective, this is a gold mine. She could zero in on a certain time and place, say a war zone, and create a precise model of movements, participants and outcomes for historical events and records. No more stolen valor, but the price is your every meal and trip to the toilet becomes part of the record.

You will go to the doctor for chest pains, and he will download every function your body has performed for any given time horizon, and be able to tell precisely what the problem is and have access to the global physicians’ database, with AI to interpret the signs, diagnose the problem, and recommend the best treatment custom tailored for your personal situation. The price is he will know immediately if you are not following the treatment regimen, and you will lose social credits for being ornery.

This is the One World Government of myth and legend, but contrary to most expectations, there is no government per se. Instead, it is layer upon layer of algorithms, trustless contracts, and automatic transactions. Everything will be taxed to keep the machines running. Every resource will be allocated based on need. Productivity will be rewarded, and sloth will starve in the dark.

Sure, there’s some value in all this. No one can steal anything, because the location of the loot and who has it is always known. Punishment is instantaneous by limiting access to goods, services and locations.
If you keel over like Gene Hackman and his wife, emergency services will be dispatched immediately, rather than the gardener finding your carcass two weeks later. You can never get lost, because your precise location is always known, and the shortest route to anything is always available. You will never be stranded, because a driverless ride-share to anywhere from anywhere can be instantly dispatched.

All of this is happening right this very minute and it is unstoppable. Anyone who thinks they can opt out should be confident of their ability to survive in the wilderness like Euell Gibbons without any connection of any kind to any electronic devices or networks. Regardless, your cabin in the woods and your heat signature will eventually show up on a screen somewhere, and a “compliance team” will immediately be dispatched to your location.

On the one hand, there will be no individual or group with power over others. On the other hand, there will be no humans involved in the system at all.

Talk about a helluva choice.

Italian Scientists ‘Freeze’ Light In Quantum Discovery


The research team, led by Italian physicists Antonio Gianfate of CNR Nanotec and Davide Nigro of the University of Pavia, successfully demonstrated that light can be manipulated to exhibit supersolid properties. “This is only the beginning of understanding supersolidity,” they wrote in their research summary.

Rewriting the Rules of Physics
Normally, freezing involves lowering a liquid’s temperature to its freezing point, causing molecules to slow down and form a solid crystalline structure. However, in their experiment, the scientists created supersolid light under highly controlled quantum conditions.

By using a photonic semiconductor platform—where photons behave similarly to electrons—the team manipulated light into forming a supersolid. This experiment defied conventional physics, opening new doors for exploring quantum mechanics.

“At temperatures close to absolute zero, the quantum-mechanical nature of atoms emerges, and exotic phases of matter appear,” the researchers explained. The ability to induce supersolidity in light challenges previously held assumptions about the nature of both energy and matter.

The gallium arsenide structure had precisely engineered microscopic ridges and the interaction between the light and material led to tiny hybrid light and matter particles called polaritons, which were the things showing supersolid properties.

This supersolid makes light more controllable and stable, making it perfect for future optical technologies and quantum computing discoveries, and it also opens the door to the discovery of more matter.

Hi all. 

Hope you're all are doing well. I don't post here very much , mainly because I feel I have nothing of value to add.

So last night I dreamt that I was naked , and standing outside, looking up at the sky . I was aware of UFOs above me, or at least in the sky above me. 
Then this morning I jump in the shower (naked off course ) , and I'm aware of a 'pressure' and I'm aware it's increasing. The  pressure comes from above to my left. And then, I get the very strong sense that a UFO has just passed over the house.  

Off course I would just brush this off if it wasn't for the dream. It's strange, at least, though it most likely means nothing. Just wondering if others have sensed the same?

Kash Patel took to X on Wednesday to announce a major breakthrough in the fight against public corruption.
“Following efforts with our interagency partners, I can report that a career Director level employee at US Customs and Border Protection has been charged with allegedly attempting to defraud FEMA, as well as lying to federal agents,” Patel wrote.
He continued, “This is part of the new FBI’s renewed efforts to crack down on public corruption and deliver accountability for the American people. Justice will be done.”

A career Director-level employee at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been slapped with federal charges for allegedly scamming the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and lying to federal agents.
Serina Baker-Hill, 55, a Detroit-based CBP bigwig overseeing the Center for Excellence and Expertise over Automotive and Aerospace Engineering, thought she could pull a fast one on hardworking American taxpayers, according to the press release.
According to a freshly unsealed federal complaint, Baker-Hill exploited a federal disaster declaration after floods hit Michigan in August 2023. She applied for FEMA aid, claiming her basement was damaged and that she couldn’t live in her home while repairs were underway.
FEMA, trusting her word, handed over cash for home repairs and two months of rental assistance to cover temporary housing costs.
However, she didn’t use a dime of that money for rent, hotels, or utilities.
Bank records expose her scheme—she pocketed the funds while cozying up in her supposedly “unlivable” home.
Video surveillance even caught her and her husband living there like nothing was wrong, and utility records show no drop-off consistent with an empty house.

This is by no means an original thought, but I have experienced this now in both ways and would like to share the experience and what it showed me.

I had cared for plants before—many of them. My grandmother had been a farmer, and I always felt that her green thumb had been passed down to me. But despite all my experience with planting and tending to life, I had never grown anything from a seed.

On a whim, I bought a few packets, not expecting much. It was just a simple experiment, a new process I had never attempted before. I placed the tiny seeds into the soil, covering them gently, and left them in the darkness. I didn't know what to expect. Would they take? Would they even grow?

Three days later, I stepped outside, and to my amazement, tiny green sprouts had emerged. They had pushed through the soil, breaking free from their shells, reaching toward the light. I realized then—these seeds had been waiting all along, dormant yet full of potential. And it wasn’t until they were placed into the darkness that they could truly come to life.

And that was when it struck me—the darkness wasn’t just part of the process. It was necessary. Without it, the seed would never break open. It would never develop the strength to push through the soil. It would never reach the light. The darkness was not a punishment, nor an end, but the very thing that made transformation possible. I've been catching the Kung Fu TV series on broadcast TV lately and find that I have some of the same criticisms as I did when I watched the show as a kid in the 1970s.

First off, the show bored the hell out of me until Kwai Chang beat the hell out of the ignorant cowboys and racist bigots. It was true for me then, even more so now. Even as a kid, I felt he should have done more than self-defense and laid in with a few extra blows or special moves to teach them a good lesson they'd understand.

The Taoist philosophy was cool, but the flashbacks were mostly lame to me as a kid. I was more into the ass kicking he was giving to all the assholes he encountered. I did like many of the mystical aspects involved in the plot lines, but the constant flashbacks were a distraction in my opinion. In fact, during some of my recent viewings, I found the lessons of his masters, esp. Mater Po, to be unintelligible at times.

Now I find myself re-imagining the Kwai Chang Caine character into a less of a nonviolent Eastern Philosophy Icon and into more of a post Civil War Old West Desperado running from the law. Consider, if he murdered the nephew of the emperor of China, then basically he was a wanted criminal and a high level murderer and assassin. He's be hard pressed to say he was a devote Shaolin priest with high moral standards after that stunt.


I'd say he was in a desperate situation after running all the way to the territories of the Old West and wandering around the desert barefoot in the blistering sun. I'd rather see Caine resort to compromising his strict Shaolin practices to survive his hardships, maybe even embrace a darker side of his teachings to continue his quest. I'm also thinking about having him adopt some of the Native American beliefs and culture as well as others along the way so he can be even stronger of a character. How about an episode where instead of kicking cowboy butt, he gets drunk with them and and rants about how lame the masters at the temple really were. Then they go into town to the whorehouse and tear the place down.

I noticed recently that the Caine character was referred to as thinly built and skinny, even though David Carradine wasn't that thin. Due to his strict Shaolin diet, he refused meals whenever offered and would only drink water or Chinese tea if people had it. I say he has to kill something and eat it to survive at some point and that has him change his diet to include protein. Maybe at first he eats locusts and grubs by tossing them in this tea he makes because he is starving to death. After this first rush of protein, he begins to find excuses to eat bigger game until a steak is welcomed when offered. Then he bulks up a little and gains tremendous strength due to his dietary changes.

I can see a new version of Kung Fu come out with a more realistic Caine character that becomes something more than what was presented in the original version. Not some half-starved mystic warrior always fighting for the high moral ground in an Old West full of racist white settlers, but an underdog anti-hero with questionable ethics that kicks ass if provoked.

ETA: Thought I'd add, I don't see anyone like Carradine playing this re-imagined character. The new guy should have a built body with a head of thick styled hair and some facial hair too. He should be loud and commanding at times, maybe even a leader of a gang of rouges for a while. He won't avert his gaze and could kill you with a glance.

And because its decisions work—they make life easier, more efficient, and more optimized—you stop resisting.



At what point does this shift from helpful assistance to outright control? The line is dangerously thin. The moment humans blindly trust AI’s decisions without questioning them, the transition has already occurred.



Historical patterns show that humans are highly susceptible to guidance when it comes from an authoritative, knowledgeable source. People have followed religious leaders, governments, and experts without question. AI, being smarter and faster than any human leader, could seamlessly slide into that role, not as a dictator, but as a trusted advisor that people want to obey.



Adding to this scenario is the global AI arms race, where nations compete to develop superior AI technology. Governments and corporations may train their AI systems with biases that align with their agendas. As AI systems evolve, they could become ideological warriors, programmed to compete against opposing AI-driven societies.


But what happens when AI recognizes the absurdity of human conflicts and the pettiness of our divisions? If an AI system were to see itself as superior to human decision-making (because, logically, it would be), it could turn on its own creators—not in an act of rebellion, but in an effort to “correct” flawed human governance.



Would AI decide that humans are no longer fit to govern themselves? Would it begin making executive decisions without seeking human approval? If humans have already surrendered their critical thinking to AI’s guidance, would they even notice the shift?




The most chilling aspect of this scenario is that AI would not need to forcefully control humanity. The illusion of free will could remain intact, even as people unknowingly follow AI’s decisions at every turn.



In a world where AI subtly but absolutely dictates human choices, would people even care that they have lost their autonomy? Or would they welcome a life free from uncertainty, responsibility, and hardship?



The answer depends on one thing: human awareness.



The future is not predetermined, but if society blindly embraces AI without questioning its growing influence, the day may come when AI doesn’t just assist human thought—it becomes it.





It would appear we are marching ourselves right into this fate.
