Hosting Pictures? - FCD - 06-13-2025

Where do you guys host your pictures?

I assume, looking at the "Insert Pictures" function, that you need to place a URL in the 'http://' box (thus the reference to a web address), so to me this means I need a host to upload and store the pictures in order to generate a linkable URL from it, correct?  If so, is there a favorite place to do this?  I used to use Imgur (I think), but it's been a while.  That was kind of a pain in the butt to get them loaded and then generate a link (required about 5 steps or more).  I'm hoping someone has an easier way to do this so pictures can be posted quickly.

Appreciate any info which members or staff can provide.

Thanks!

Personally, I save the banners at Free Image.

Everyone has their personal choice. I use imgur.com as it's fast, simple & one click. Although, I been using it for years.

How did you get it to be one click?  For me, I have to upload it (click), then I have to find it (click), then I have to select the file export type (click), then I have to go to the website I want to load it too (click), then I have to click the feature to load the URL from Imgur (click).

Photobucket used to be one click, but then they lost their minds and went to this crazy expensive storage hosting model and pissed everyone off, and I dumped them like a bad attitude (as did millions of others).  Put themselves out of business overnight.

I don't post many pictures here, but the ones I do post I host at Rogue Nation.

When making a post, there is a "drag files here" box at the bottom of the post page. I use that box to upload images to the RN servers, and then there is an option on each image in the list that results to "post in reply". I use that, which generates a thumbnail in the post.

Then I open the thumbnail in another tab, copy the URL from the address bar, and use the "include image" option in the control bar of a post to post the full image in place of the thumbnail. That posts the image in the body of the post, and still generates a thumbnail at the bottom of the post.

Hmmm...that sounds interesting.  I want to look into this.  Let me try to see if I understand, and test it a couple times, and I'll report back.  I (think) I understand what you're talking about, but before I ask more questions I need to try and see if my understanding is correct.  This sounds easier...which is what I was hoping for.

Thanks!

Drag & drop an image on the box.

After image uploaded, I simply right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Link"

Ok, technically that's two clicks.

I paste the link into my post and add the img tags like so:

NOTE: Whenever I'm adding images or a wall of text, I click the "view source" button (circled below) which basically puts the edit post window into plain text (like Notepad). When finished I click the view source button again to verify the formatting looks correct before hitting Post Reply button.

I'm probably the only person that does it this way, but I been doing it for so long I think nothing of it.
