Israel has bombed Iran - 727Sky - 06-13-2025

None essential personnel and dependents were being evacuated from some of our Military bases in the great garden spot of the Mid-East. The prep work has been going on for a couple of weeks. Now we wait and see what Iran can do about it..

Israel launched air strikes inside Iran late Thursday in its latest effort to destroy Tehran’s nuclear program – an operation military leaders said they had “no choice” but to carry out.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Operation “Rising Lion” targeted several sites across the Iranian capital to dismantle the country’s nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile factories and military – in a mission to “roll back” Iran’s threat to Israel’s “very survival.”
Though the extent of damage remains unclear, the attack reportedly killed a high-ranking general and nuclear scientists as explosions boomed across Tehran.

“We can’t leave these threats for the next generation,” Netanyahu said during an address shared on YouTube, pressing that the attacks will continue for “as many days as it takes.”

“Because if we don’t act now, there will not be another generation. If we don’t act now, we simply won’t be here. We have internalized the lessons of history. When an enemy says he intends to destroy you — believe him,” he continued.
“When the enemy develops the capabilities to destroy you — stop him.”
A recent report that Iran had enriched enough uranium to build nuclear bombs within days was confirmed, a source told The Post Thursday night, adding that is why the strike occurred.
Gen. Hossein Salami, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of the country’s military, are believed to have been killed in the barrage, as were two nuclear scientists, Iran’s state media said, according to the Times of Israel.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said. AP
The Revolutionary Guard oversees Iran’s ballistic missiles, which it has used twice to strike Israel since the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Jewish state also targeted Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facility in Natanz — where black smoke was seen billowing from the building, Iranian state media showed.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the US was “not involved” in the strike.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” he said.
“Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel.”
However, the US may be forced to act to protect Israel — and prevent the Jewish state from using its nuclear weapons, a source said.

The US Embassy in Israel has since directed all US government employees and their family members to shelter in place until further notice.
Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the Jewish state had reached a “point of no return.”
“We cannot wait for another time to act, we have no choice,” he said in remarks published by the IDF.
“History, both distant and recent, has taught us that in the face of ambitions to destroy us, we must not bow our heads, and so we fight to preserve our existence. Freedom is granted to those who are willing to fight for it.”

Iran threatened to retaliate — with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowing that Israel will face “severe punishment” after the strikes, he said in a statement shared by the state-run INRA news agency.
At the White House earlier Thursday, President Trump said an Israeli airstrike “looks like it’s something that could very well happen” — but stopped short of saying an operation was “imminent.”
Danny Danon, the Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, urged the Security Council to support the Jewish state.

“This is a moment to make moral decisions. Stand by Israel or you will be partners in a dangerous silence.”
While some US officials have come out in opposition to Israel’s latest attack, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, a vocal supporter of the Jewish state, said officials should do whatever it takes to wipe out “Iranian leadership” and “nuclear personnel.”
“Our commitment to Israel must be absolute and I fully support this attack,” the Democrat said on X.

“Keep wiping out Iranian leadership and the nuclear personnel. We must provide whatever is necessary – military, intelligence, weaponry – to fully back Israel in striking Iran.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said America “stands ready to work with President Trump and with our allies in Israel to restore peace in the region and, first and foremost, to defend the American people from Iranian aggression, especially our troops and civilians serving overseas.”
“Iran must never gain access to a nuclear weapon,” he said in a statement.

Iran launches supposedly 100 drones to Israel.. I would bet they are not carrying flowers.

RE: Israel has bombed Iran - maeb - 06-13-2025

We’re planning to visit family on the East and West coasts later this summer.  I just want to see folks while they’re still alive.  We’re all getting older and I just want to see them again if only for a few days. It’s just been on my heart lately.

The world seems to be playing right out of the Bible more each day.  As a believer of Christ, I don’t worry as much as people I know who don’t. I tell them that these days were long ago prophecied and they must come to pass.

I just knew in my heart in October 2023 that as much as the world seemed to be behind Israel and condemning the attacks that it would be short lived.

RE: Israel has bombed Iran - FCD - 06-13-2025

I'm all good with this...provided Israel can defend itself when they start WW3 in the Middle East.  Don't expect the US to run to your aid when you bite off more than you can chew.  We don't need your help, Israel, in starting WW3, at all, so don't. do. it.  (unless you can finish it, all on your own).

We've got quite enough problems to solve right here at home.

This conflict should have no effect on gasoline prices in the U.S., but it will; they are already predicting that it will. I bet other things will go up too, because gas prices, and stuff.

Add this to the riots, illegals, and general turmoil going on, and I filled up both vehicles and some 5-gallon gas cans for the generator. Also, I pulled some cash out. Probably time to clean the guns, they need it anyway.

When war is over Netanyahu is finished ... facing criminal indictment at home and wanted by the ICC on war crime charges seems starting another war now he's destroyed Gaza is his only way to avoid a cell !

Israel elections in 2026 , a full blown war with Iran could see that pushed back.

Just sayin.

Bingo!!

Edit - And I just have to say...a lot of times people say I come off sounding anti-Israel, and I am NOT at all! In fact, I am very pro-Israel, but I am also anti-Netanyahu. I should have been more precise in my post above; what I should have said was...we don't need Netanyahu and the Mossad's help starting WW3. I suspect the Israeli people share my sentiments.

RE: Israel has bombed Iran - gortex - 06-13-2025

Iran are launching retaliatory strikes now following further strikes by Israel.

Missiles incoming.

RE: Israel has bombed Iran - FCD - 06-14-2025

And those missiles are making it through their "Iron dome" (or whatever they call it).  That 'iron dome' (thanks, USA) is cute and all, but it's not set up to deal with multiple threats at the same time, and it's not capable of dealing with any sustained multiple threat attack (which is exactly what they are experiencing now).

Some of those batteries take over an hour to reload after they fire 4-6 defensive missiles, AND the more missiles they're capable of firing the more crew and support they require, not to mention the logistics of moving them is considerably more difficult.  It's a double edged sword.  More missiles = more support resources, more logistics, bigger footprint, slow to move.  Less missiles = faster to move, easier to become useless and just become a sitting duck target for airstrikes, drones or missiles.  Then, they're out of not only the launchers, but the entire unit capability goes to zero in a minute.  Tough choice.

There's an old saying about being a "paper tiger".  There's also an old saying about an ant with a big mouth, and an alligator.

If a country (or their leader) wants to rattle the Ugly Stick, then they better have the ass to back it up!  Otherwise, don't do it.  I'm lookin' at you, Netanyahu.

----------------------------------------------

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Israeli people out in the streets protesting Netanyahu's actions over this.  "We didn't want this!!  We didn't ask for this!!"...and I'd say they have every right to say that.  Of course, the Israeli media will shut that message down like the plague.

A photoworthy moments in the sky over Tel-Aviv during today's wave of ballistic missiles launched by Iran. Interceptions from David's Sling, Arrow-3, the 2 THAAD systems deployed & operated by the US Army, and Patriot PAC-3.

Aftermath... from the hours of video I watched it sure looks like some parts of Israel suffered significant damage. A taste of Gaza?

Just a reminder: Netanyahu (& many others) have been saying that Iran is on the verge of getting nukes for over three decades.

IMO, it's not about Iran gaining a nuclear weapon. That's a smoke screen we been hearing for 40 years. Netanyahu's attack on Iran is about sparking regime change with just enough strikes on nuclear facilities to frame it as an act of preemptive self-defense. I doubt this will turn out well, but who knows. This ping-pong tactic could go on for years. Assuming the US will keep the weapons flowing to Israel, eventually Iran will deplete their inventory and I doubt Russia has any to spare.

Axios now confirming what I suspected: All the "Trump turn on Netanyahu" propaganda was deliberately planted in media to pretend like the attack wasn't imminent. The whole "Trump stopped an attack" line was fake. The great deception as they prepared an attack on Iran. They refused to come to the table, 60 days elapsed so they got shredded by Israel (according to numerous media reports). Did Iran not see that coming? In the coming days we'll find out who was better prepared.

If the US is really not involved, Trump has a strange way of showing it. The old good cop (we were not involved tactics) vs bad cop (Israel hit'em hard) routine.

This tweet does not conform to the strategy of plausible deniability. I guess that doesn't apply anymore.

Presidents come and go but foreign policy remains forever. The US is like a matador, using Israel as its cape, he induces a blind rage across the public and governments alike toward Israel/the cape, so much so the matador himself goes unnoticed.

Not like this is new as the US is using Israel as a proxy (like Ukraine) specifically to redirect blame and literal incoming missiles away from itself towards its proxy.

RE: Israel has bombed Iran - FCD - 06-14-2025

ETMN - If you haven't read it already, you should take a look at James Bamford's book, "Spy Fail".  It's a pretty insightful read on the US Intelligence community, but also more importantly a very detailed look at Netanyahu's government and how the Mossad operates.  It's a real eye-opener.

Bamford, if you're not familiar with him, is the author who wrote "The Puzzle Palace" back in the 80's which exposed the existence of the NSA as a real government agency for the very first time.  Bamford almost went to Leavenworth over that book, and it was banned in the US for many years (as it revealed not only the existence NSA itself but also many things about how the NSA operated in such secrecy and what they were up to).  People had no idea. (other than rumors and budget line items for $10,000 coffee pots, toilet seats and hammers along with other wildly overpriced line items hidden in massive budgets.  All of it siphoned off into this massive black budget for the NSA).  So, the guy is a pretty credible source.

Anyway, Spy Fail is another eye-opener.  I picked it up primarily because I saw Bamford's name (the government would rather he not exist).  I had originally read The Puzzle Palace back in the mid 90's when I found a used copy over in a SE Asia 2nd hand bookstore.  I think the book may have still been banned in the US at that time (at least the unabridged version).  I'm not 100% sure the 'sanitized' version which eventually was released is the same as the edition I have kicking around here somewhere.

I did some brief research on the AFIO.  Interesting group to be sure, with an even more interesting mission.  Kind of makes one wonder if it is not a CIA/NSA front organization, or at least one trying to spin these organizations into a good light in the public eye.  I can see why they would be very interested in Bamford's latest book...it's all about them!

Quattrocki and Bamford have crossed paths and butted heads for over 40 years.  Good interview though.

Drones, Mossad, and the prep that started over 8 months ago to preposition assets.

Quote:Israel attacked Iran with a Mossad intelligence agent behind enemy lines missile and drone attack. It's similar to operation spider web but this is operation rising lion. F-35 and F-15 and F-16 fighter jets over 200 of them struck Iran's nuclear facilities and oil production capabilities. Then Iran struck back with a ballistic missile attack that Israel and America tried to intercept.

Missile attacks on Tel-Aviv, June 16 that hit around 4:30am localtime. I watched it live and it appeared to be a big wave of missiles. Most appeared to be intercepted but several got through. I was watching a live camera at same time in Haifa which appeared to be hit even harder. The Home Front Command ordered all civilians to go to their bunkers 3.5 hours before the missiles struck.

Key Takeaways

The IDF expanded its air campaign into Iran by beginning to strike regime institutions, including some related to internal security and social control. This comes the day after the IDF began striking energy infrastructure. The degradation of the Iranian coercive apparatus coupled with energy shortages could destabilize the regime.

The IDF conducted its furthest strike eastward as part of its efforts to establish air superiority over Iran. The IDF specifically struck an Artesh airbase around Mashhad in northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province. Most of the Israeli strikes targeting air defenses have been around western and central Iran thus far.

Iran has continued its missile campaign targeting Israel, having launched 10 total barrages at the time of this writing. Two of these barrages occurred in recent hours. The IDF has intercepted around 92 percent of the missiles that Iran has fired at Israel thus far, according to an Israeli official speaking to Reuters.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) expanded its ongoing air campaign on June 15 to target Iranian governance institutions, some of which are related to internal security.

Iran has conducted 10 waves of ballistic missile attacks targeting Israel from Iranian territory since the start of the Israeli air campaign against Iran on July 12. Iran has conducted two waves of ballistic missile attacks since CTP-ISW's 6:00 AM ET data cutoff on June 15.[21] The IDF reported that Iran launched “several missiles” at Israel in the first wave but that none of the missiles landed in Israeli territory.[22] Iran launched a second wave of missiles targeting Haifa in northern Israel.[23] Israeli media reported that Iran launched approximately 30 missiles in the second wave.[24] An Iranian ballistic missile struck a building in Haifa, injuring two Israeli civilians.[25] The IDF has thus far intercepted about 92 percent of the Iranian munitions that Iran has launched at Israel as part of its Operation True Promise III, according to Israeli officials speaking to Reuters.[26]
