This video is interesting to say the least. The first part relates to some of the absolute fraud and military government spending noted by the government accounting office. The title is taken from the cost of two small washers that anyone could buy for around 15 cents each. Even if they were solid gold (or whatever) the cost would never be any where close to 1 million dollars to package and ship (19:56 in the video). There are several other examples in the presentation.

The main goal of the presentation is about some of the advanced aircraft that are known/suggested to exist which I personally believe to be true...Radar tracks of aircraft going 4.2 Mach are the real deal... Due to the heat generated at such speed IMO they are using a thinner yet much larger form fitting replica of the heat shield tiles used on the now defunct space shuttle and have probably developed a better fastener glue to hold them in place.. .

But it was director William Friedkin who defined Bedig’s career. The two share a dozen features spanning 30 years and a mutual commitment to quality, a collaboration that started with “Sorcerer” in 1977. On their second film together, “The Brink’s Job,” Bedig’s input rose to genius level: He brought $2 million in real currency to the set, creating a palpable buzz during the sequence in the bank vault in which actors Peter Falk, Peter Boyle and Paul Sorvino throw wads of the loot into the air. (The cash was well guarded; losses were less than $5,000 during filming — a small price for an idea worth its weight in gold.)

Partnering with a multitude of directors throughout the 1980s, Bedig hit a home run on Barry Levinson’s “The Natural.” Responsible for everything from old-time baseball mitts to Redford’s magical bat, “Wonderboy,” the prop man enlisted Paul Sullivan Jr. (young Roy Hobbs) to wood-burn the lightning logo on the prop — creating a character in its own right.

In 1985, he worked on Friedkin’s “To Live and Die in L.A.,” which withstood jail threats from the government over its depiction of counterfeiting. He also propped character-driven collaborations for Herbert Ross like “Steel Magnolias” and Andy Bergman’s comedic romp “Honeymoon in Vegas,” his exacting style a testament to his depth of craft, translating script and actors’ needs while providing accuracy to period and story.  And he knew to never sell a director on a prop unless he had “more on the truck.”

Bedig, now 79, retired after Friedkin’s “Bug” in 2006. He lives in the San Fernando Valley and enjoys playing casino poker and mentoring his son, Jason, an art department lead man. “Be professional,” he counsels the third-generation filmmaker, “and never leave the set. That’s when things can go wrong!”

The jaw, skull, and leg bones belonging to this yet-to-be classified hominin, labeled HLD 6, were discovered in
Hualongdong, in East Asia, in 2019. In the years since, experts at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have
struggled to match the remains to a known lineage.

The hominin's face is similarly structured to that of the modern human lineage, which split from Homo erectus as
far back as 750,000 years ago. But the individual's lack of chin appears more like that of a Denisovan – an extinct
species of ancient hominin in Asia that split from Neanderthals more than 400,000 years ago.

Working alongside researchers from China's Xi'an Jiaotong University, the UK's University of York, and Spain's
National Research Center on Human Evolution, researchers at CAS think they have uncovered an entirely new
lineage – a hybrid between the branch that gave us modern humans and the branch that gave us other ancient
hominins in the region, like Denisovans.

Historically, many hominin fossils from the Pleistocene that have been found in China haven't fitted easily into any
one lineage. As a result, such remains are often explained away as intermediate variations on a straight path to
modern humanity; as an archaic example of a Homo sapien, for example, or an advanced form of Homo erectus.

But this rather linear, simplistic interpretation is controversial and not widely accepted. While Homo erectus did
persist in Indonesia until roughly 100,000 years ago, the remains that were recently found in East China hold a
greater resemblance to other, more modern lineages of hominin.

Previously, genome studies on Neanderthal remains in Europe and western Asia have found evidence of a fourth
lineage of hominin living in the Middle to Late Pleistocene. But this missing group has never been officially identified
in the fossil record.

Perhaps the recent hominin remains found in China are a missing piece of the puzzle. The fossilized jaw and skull
belong to a 12- or 13-year-old, and while its face has modern-human like features, the limbs, skull cap, and jaw
"seem to reflect more primitive traits," the authors of the analysis write.


Their results complicate the path to modern humans. The mosaic of physical features found in this ancient hominin
instead supports the coexistence of three lineages in Asia – the lineage of H. erectus, the lineage of Denisovan, and
this other lineage that is "phylogenetically close" to us.

Homo sapiens only appeared in China around 120,000 years ago, but it seems as though some of our 'modern'
features existed here long before that. It may be that the last common ancestor of H. sapiens and Neanderthals
arose in southwest Asia and later spread to all continents.
That theory will now need to be confirmed with more archaeological research.

Gemini North is one of only two telescopes at the Gemini Observatory and is part of an international science partnership between various countries, including the US, Canada, and Chile; the other telescope — Gemini South — is located in Cerro Pachón, Chile. Both telescopes have been shut down to allow the IT team to be able to investigate what occurred in the incident, which is unclear at this time.

"There is currently no impact on other NOIRLab infrastructure. Our highest priorities are to safely and securely resume observations, as well as to understand and learn from this incident," the NOIRLab stated in its announcement.

This is not the first time that space exploration equipment has been targeted by cyberattackers. Last November, the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) radio telescope in Chile became an unlikely target for a cyberattack when unknown assailants knocked its systems offline.

On the Federal Trade Commission’s website, it said over 221 million phone numbers are listed the National Do Not Call Registry. 

The robocaller has been hit with allegations of "using misleading caller ID to disguise the enterprise’s role and prompt consumers to answer" as well, the FCC alleged.


The enterprise’s alleged scheme involved conducting over 5 billion robocalls with over 1 million caller ID numbers, according to the FCC. The agency said over 500 million unsuspecting phone numbers received those scam calls.
