First, they're in no position to demand anything from anyone, much less other countries that are not their own. Second, "the countries of the free world" are not the ones who abducted their daughter, nor are "the countries of the free world" responsible for her well-being. They should address their "demands" to Hamas. Hamas is solely responsible for whatever happens to their daughter from here forward until her release or death.

This video release is boilerplate propaganda. They're trying to put a human face on their terror activities in order to avoid an ass-whoopin' that is on it's way. They are playing to emotions, while being themselves emotionless. It's evidence of their psychopathic culture.

It was not a standard "proof of life" video. There was nothing to indicate that she is indeed still alive. It was just boilerplate propaganda.

And what the hell is wrong with that girl's lips? They're cartoonish. Did she get busted in the mouth during her abduction or something? And why in the hell does she have bits of metal in her nose, like a nose ring in a hog that keeps it from rooting it's way out of the pen?

All in all, knowing the purpose of it, the video doesn't make me sympathetic to anyone at all. It just solidifies my desire to turn Gaza into one great big crater, then let the Mediterranean wash into the crater to make a huge swimming pool for a future resort there.

Regarding the timing of the invasion, the article could be right, but I have an alternative explanation to offer. The best raids are not conducted when everyone expects them to be. The very fact that they are expected on a certain timetable in fact makes them harder to conduct, and less likely to succeed. When the time and date is known, then folks are waiting on you, dug in and with guns aimed. The longer you draw it out past their expectations, the more nervous they get, and therefore the more prone to make fatal mistakes... or, the more jaded, bored, and inattentive they get, which also causes them to make stupid mistakes... OR they finally decide you're not coming at all, and relax. If I were running Israeli ops, I'd be making them wait, and speculate on the whys of the delays too. You should strive to keep your enemy off balance, and never give them a firm time table for your own actions for them to be prepared for.

The propaganda is flying thickly now, from both sides. Be careful of what you hear, and vet everything. If it can't be vetted, just put it in the "bullshit" column until such time as it can be. For example, I'm hearing a lot about Americans killed and abducted, but so far have no evidence that any actually were. I have only one name, and citizenship status is unresolved. Was she really an American, or was she really Israeli? Or was she a "dual citizen", which is not a citizenship at all as far as I'm concerned, it's just an inability to declare a major. Dual citizens are the same as "hyphenated Americans" to me - you know, "African Americans", "Irish Americans", "Italian Americans", etc. You're either an American, or you are a "not American". Trying to be two things at once shows a split personality, and is a mental disorder. Pick a major, be one or the other, because being both is really being neither.

Beheaded babies - the story is flying all over everywhere, but still no evidence. I've seen bloody cribs and playrooms, but no evidence of beheadings of kids. I've no doubt that it probably happened, but where is the evidence for their claims? Isn't it enough that kids were killed, that they have to add "beheaded"? I'd bet it doesn't matter to those kids how they were killed. The death itself is was probably more on their minds than the method chosen. For what it's worth, we have all seen beheadiings of captives to be a Muslim M.O. - I have no doubts it happened, to some folks, but why the emphasis on it?

No propaganda is ever released or dwelt upon without a reason. look for the reasons beyond the propaganda.

On the other side, the "hostage video" was released by Hamas for a reason, and it wasn't because they are nice people. They released video of them doing things on the Day of Destruction, yet now are backpedaling and saying they never did those things... after having already release video to the contrary to the world themselves. What idiots!

They used propaganda catchphrases and words like calling Israelis "occupiers", conveniently failing to point out that "Palestinians" are mostly just as much occupiers as Israelis, since they too originated from other places than Palestine for the most part - Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt primarily.

Did you know there are about 3 times as many "Palestinians" now as there were in 1948? So most "Palestinians" have NEVER had a country, and have been trying to take other folks' countries by force all their life.

They call their terrorists "freedom fighters", but fail to point out whose, or what kind of, freedom they are terrorizing for. "Palestinian" freedom? They were free to go wherever they wanted to, even back home to their native countries,but instead elected to try taking over other folks' countries to the point that even their Arab cohorts won't take them any more. They had the freedom to go into Israel proper from their territories to work, and I'm sure that over time they'd have gotten the freedom to live there as well... but they used that "freedom" to reconnoiter Israel for terrorist ops.

They refer to themselves as a "resistance" movement, but trying to take over someone else's country makes one an invader, not a resister. The natives - in this case the Israelis - are the only people who could be described as being a "resistance", as they are resisting an invasion of their own country.

These are just a few examples, but the propaganda is everywhere, flying from both sides. Question everything. Look for the reason behind the "information" being presented. What is it trying to make you feel? Which heart-string is it tugging on to lead you around with?

I have to ask, yet again for the umpteenth time, whose bright idea was it to allow Turkey into NATO? This is not how "allies" act, and is once more an excellent example of how Turkey is no ally to ANY western power, regardless of their NATO membership.

The US should, if they have a single call left, make a statement that they were in the eastern med first during this current crisis, and any Turkish "live exercise" munitions hitting a US or Israeli asset will be considered an act of war rather than an "accident", and handle accordingly regardless of Turkey's lip service to NATO.

This is just a pissing contest between the US and Turkey, and Turkey is playing the part of the mouse that roared. When they attack an ally, that could cause a crisis in NATO that results in their expulsion from it, which is long overdue. They should never have been admitted to begin with. Just as Putin is trying to regain the USSR borders, Turkey has long been trying to resurrect the Ottoman Empire, which is bad news for Europe, particularly eastern Europe.

It made no sense to admit Turkey to NATO knowing that they will eventually attack NATO countries.

Looks like that day may have finally arrived.

Let's lay to rest the fiction that hospitals are utterly immune to attack regardless of their status under international law.

The Geneva Conventions - International Law of War

In particular, the relevant sections to the hospital discussion:

Article 18

Civilian hospitals organized to give care to the wounded and sick, the infirm and maternity cases, may in no circumstances be the object of attack, but shall at all times be respected and protected by the Parties to the conflict.

States which are Parties to a conflict shall provide all civilian hospitals with certificates showing that they are civilian hospitals and that the buildings which they occupy are not used for any purpose which would deprive these hospitals of protection in accordance with Article 19.

Civilian hospitals shall be marked by means of the emblem provided for in Article 38 of the Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field of August 12, 1949, but only if so authorized by the State.

The Parties to the conflict shall, in so far as military considerations permit, take the necessary steps to make the distinctive emblems indicating civilian hospitals clearly visible to the enemy land, air and naval forces in order to obviate the possibility of any hostile action.

In view of the dangers to which hospitals may be exposed by being close to military objectives, it is recommended that such hospitals be situated as far as possible from such objectives.

Article 19

The protection to which civilian hospitals are entitled shall not cease unless they are used to commit, outside their humanitarian duties, acts harmful to the enemy. Protection may, however, cease only after due warning has been given, naming, in all appropriate cases, a reasonable time limit, and after such warning has remained unheeded.

The fact that sick or wounded members of the armed forces are nursed in these hospitals, or the presence of small arms and ammunition taken from such combatants which have not yet been handed to the proper service, shall not be considered to be acts harmful to the enemy.

So hospitals (as well as schools, mosques, and the like) enjoy no absolute immunity to obliteration once the enemy starts using them for military purposes beyond treating the sick and injured. Once Hamas started installing military headquarters into hospitals, and using them for depots to store weapons, their immunity to attack is revoked by article 19.

Regarding Haniyeh's claims of an Israeli "defeat", it looks to me like they are still swinging, and that fits no definition of a "defeat" that I am aware of.

Just more propaganda from Hamas, illustrating their used of words that don't mean what they think they mean... or more to the point, their hope that  other folks don't understand the actual meaning of the words they are using and the reality of their falsification... and the fervent hopes of Hamas that other folks are just too dumb to actually look up the relevant international laws.

And let's not forget just who actually violated international law by intentionally targeting civilians in their initial surprise attack...

And "Israeli aggression"? Really? It hasn't been that long ago, so any interested party should be able to think back and realize just who started this mess, just who is the actual "aggressor", just who actually violated international law by intentionally targeting and attacking civilians, and who is actually defending against said aggression.

Just wait until one of their stray rockets takes out The Dome of the Rock or al-Aqsa Mosque, or better yet both of them (both are Muslim occupations of the Temple Mount, where the Jewish temple once stood before the Muslims erased and replaced it during their unprovoked attack on Jewish and Christian lands, Jerusalem specifically)... boy oh boy, will you ever hear some weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth then!
