But citizens give Meta broad (Section 230) liability protection that other media companies don’t get. It is thus reasonable to expect that, in return, Meta and other social media platforms should be transparent about their censorship decisions and offer users the right to reply.

Please keep in mind this is just a rant and I was in a very bitchy mood while writing it. I don't expect this to go over well but there are things I need to get off my chest.

Dear fellow citizens of The Nation,

This is my observation but why do most of you focus on or only make inflammatory posts with doom, gloom, bad news, disaster and outrage? It seems you thrive on it and probably giggle with glee every time you parrot news from your bias confirming websites or favorite political talking head pundit that supports your world view and post it here 30 seconds later. The apparent smugness of thinking you are enlightened or somehow smarter than the masses of sheep people because you think you have alternate or allegedly hidden or suppressed ideas is really not a good look and unbelievably lacking in self-awareness. You are being played as hard as anybody is.

The end of the world, the downfall of society, he/she said this or that, libs, Biden, WEF, Bill Gates, CBDCs, vaccines, Muslims, the decay of morality, LGBTx people and so on and on and on are 90% of what gets posted here. Looking at all this from the outside, it seems you must be unhappy or being unhappy, mad or pissed off is what makes you happy? Maybe by only posting negative things and doom porn makes you feel better that you’re encouraging others to share your negative thoughts and ideas so they can be as miserable as you are?

Maybe you feel it is your civic duty as a keyboard warrior to only post the worst or the most stupid thing you can find or maybe you just want your outrage at changes in the world and society you are powerless to do anything about to be shared by others so you don’t feel so alone and insignificant? Maybe it’s a self-aggrandizing need for cred and clout or maybe it’s just plain old narcissism thinking if you dominate the discussions, then you must be top dog or something and everyone will bow to your greatness? Maybe it’s for your own personal gratification, to satiate dysfunctional psychological drives or to plaster your pet topic with no regard for providing meaningful content.

At any rate, this focus on everything wrong in the world will be the downfall of this site for those not in lockstep with the prevailing mindset and it will end up yet another partisan echo chamber of back patting circle jerking but if this is what you want and where things are headed, then count me out which I’m sure some are patiently waiting to happen so they don’t have to listen to opinions different from their own which I generally keep to myself. My belief is that a small forum like this one that averages only between 25 and 30 members visiting per day has the ability of being more of a community and more of a family but to me it seems it is becoming more and more like a cult

So, just a suggestion but can we all calm the hell down a little and try to not be a one trick pony by constantly rehashing alarmist rightwing “news”, ridiculous half-baked conspiracy theories and the worst possible dystopian outcomes imaginable without some degree of balance or vetting before trying to win the popularity contest?

If I were to suddenly start posting leftwing, liberal, progressive or a rash of pro LBGT stuff, I’m sure you wouldn’t like it very much either so please take a moment to reflect on how using RN as your own personal digital billboard for political agendas with no regard for how your constant obsession impacts the rest of the community or at least me and the other two or three people that aren’t hardcore rightwing sycophants.

We must, before doing or saying anything else in this blog, firstly thank W.G. for spotting and sharing these stories. The reason why is rather simple: because thus far the revolt of the states in passing state legislation recognizing gold and silver as money and legal tender, and of states opening their own bullion depositories, has thus far been confined to "flyover country" where we who are all part of Darth Hillary's "basket of deplorables " all live. One would expect such "nonsense" as bullion as money and state bullion depositories from us rubes in Wyoming or Tennessee or Texas.

But when the revolt spreads to places like North Carolina, a bastion of transplanted northeastern reason and "progressivity", it might be time to start worrying:

Now you'll note that the precise language of the article here is less than comforting, for again, the idea of the issuance of physical bearer certificates of deposit is utterly missing, and hence the idea of convertibility and convenience of exchange is missing. Rather, the bill is hinting at bullion backed "crypto currency", and I believe my objections to the idea that crypto is  anywhere close to a real currency are well enough known that there is no reason to rehearse them again here. What the North Carolina bill as it reads appears to be doing is simply creating the ground for state purchase of and speculation in private crypto currency as it is of purchase of and speculation in bullion.

There is, however, something noteworthy about this article, because a clear reason for doing so is articulated explicitly, and that is the loss of state confidence in the federal reserve "dollar":

You'll note that what has been missing thus far in all of these measures is precisely the point of convertibility of certificates of deposit, and their use as money. If they are genuinely serious, they should not hesitate to say that one can have either a crypto-currency electronic token, or a physical piece of bearer certificate of deposit; without the latter, everything else is just talk.  And it's very deceptive talk at that.  I for one would never consider depositing any amount of bullion in any depository without that option. Don't talk to me about a crypto wallet or password or any electronic nonsense. I want the piece of paper with all its anti-counterfeiting measures. Period. End of discussion.

I am encouraged by all the states taking these measures, don't get me wrong, but I am also insistent that the key missing piece is the piece of paper saying that "x" amount of silver or gold is on deposit in the State X bullion depository, and that this certificate can be redeemed for that amount. Show me the facsimile or the first printings of such certificates, and I'll believe you're fully serious.

Now with that in mind, let's go to the other partially encouraging story shared by W.G.  We all "just know" that Real Progressive Civilization only exists in the narrow strip of land east of the Hudson River, and running roughly from New York City and Albany to Boston, with a few places like Hartford and Providence in between; or it exists only in that narrow strip running from roughly from Philadelphia, through Baltimore, to Swampington, D.C. (Sorry, Richmond, you're not really a part of Civilization because of your Confederate past). Sometimes, however, a little of that Real Civilization oozes, slurps, or dribbles over onto New Jersey. Everything else is The Wilderness, Terra Incognita, and inhabited by the Barbarians of the Basket of Deplorables.

It must comes as a shock to the Enlightened Intellectoids of the Real Progressive Civilization, therefore, that New Jersey might be reverting to the Barbarism of places like Texas, Tennessee, and (shudder) Wyoming:

Volz's lawsuit alleges that Joy Lynch, head of religious services at Edna Mahan, has denied him various essential religious items, including a witch's cloak.


The brown, hoodless cloak is one of the personal and congregate religious items attributed to wiccans by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Other items include: the "Book of Shadows"; a "diviniation tool"; pentacles; pentagrams; rune cards; salt; and chalices.

Even if the transvestic pedophile received his desired accoutrement, the prison might be able to restrict his diabolic practice somewhat to ensure the "maintenance of a safe, secure, and orderly operation of a correctional facility," according to the 2019 NJDOC resource guide.

Volz's lawsuit suggests the prison has already applied some limits in a discriminatory fashion.
The child rapist suggested that prior to Dec. 21, 2022, he was "denied the ability to hold corporate worship during appropriate times of day, despite other religious groups being able to worship at those same appropriate times of day that have been requested."

The suit insinuates that the alleged discrepancy "could be viewed by the community as a form of proselytizing because it encourages participation in some religious groups by incentivizing conversion to those religions," singling out the prison's Jewish population as recipients of alleged unfair favor.

The child rapist seeks $9,950 in compensatory damages, stressing the alleged discrimination has left him with "anxiety due to a lack of information, emotional stress, time loss, uncertainty and resultant planning difficulty for religious holy days and sacraments."
