Our daughter married a fella who took her last name. He has issues with his father and wanted to distance himself from the father. So now he has our last name. It happens.
That could make it make sense. It would not surprise me to find out this shooter had "daddy issues", given his behavior which he appears to have passed on to his prison-housed son.
It seems that a senseless sort of violent behavior might just run in that family.
