My first wife refused to take my name when we got married. Her excuse was that "it was for professional reasons". So, a few years into the marriage, she changed her mind and decided she wanted to take it... but I said "No. If it wasn't good enough for you then, it ain't good enough for you now. You can't have it."
Wasn't long after that that we split up....
.I can't imagine a man taking his wife's last name. I've never heard of that. I've heard of them hyphenating both last names, but never a guy taking his wife's surname and giving up his own. That just ain't how it's done in English speaking countries!
