So what if they weren't notified??? What would they have done if they were...besides run to the Iranians and tell them, while at the same time trying to make a big media stink about classified information in advance of the strikes? No, that's what they would have done, no question about it.
That's the only way he could have done it. To notify congressional democrats, he might as well have sent a telegram to the ayatollah and said "brace yourself. We're about to bomb the shit out of your nuclear sites in 18 hours."
If you want to notify your enemy of upcoming operations, telephone, telegraph, or tell a democrat. They're more supportive of America's enemies than they are of America. Just take a look at the "demonstrations" occurring across the nation for confirmation.
With that said, I think begging for a cease-fire may have been the wrong move. Muslims live by strength and bluster, and are sure to see begging for a cease-fire as a sign of weakness. It's a propaganda coup for Iran, who are likely to now be telling their own people "See? America hammered us, and we absorbed it... and came up swinging. We hit them ONCE, and they immediately tucked their tails between their legs and begged for peace. Weak Americans!"
But I reckon it remains to be seen how it's going to actually play out. At a minimum, we should have at least buried their already enriched uranium under tons of rubble and dirt. I don't believe for a second that we got it in the strikes on Natanz and Furdow. I'm sure that it was no longer there, and I'm equally sure we know where it is, ir at least have a real good idea. US satellites have been monitoring and tracking every single vehicle in and out of those facilities for several years now, so they are bound to know when it was removed, and where it was taken to. All we really did was damage their ability to enrich more.
What will Iran do now with what they already have? You can be sure they will reconstitute their nuclear program, and acquire replacement reactors, but what will they do with their already enriched uranium they've squirreled away?
