I don't want to waste data on the video, so sorry if I'm way off right out of the gate.
They are discussing a population crash, correct? A drop in numbers that threatens the survival of the human species, yes?
A genetic bottleneck that chokes off diversity enough to ensure human extinction, is this the sort of thing they talk about in the video?
You have massive deaths due to war and disease, evolutionary dead ends (de-evolution), or evolution into a new species. Humans may seem to be the Crown of Creation, but they are not the "be all, end all" of evolution, far from it IMO.
If you believe Darwin, then we went from hairy apes to humans and will then become something else or we will go extinct. Not seeing any Homo erectus or neanderthalensis walking around town these days, however, there may be a few Homo futuris wandering around. Survival of the fittest, cardinal rule of natural selection. Adapt or die.

Quote:In short, humanity's future could take one of several routes, assuming we do not go extinct:
Stasis. We largely stay as we are now, with minor tweaks, mainly as races merge.
Speciation. A new human species evolves on either this planet or another.
Symbiosis with machines. Integration of machines and human brains produces a collective intelligence that may or may not retain the qualities we now recognize as human.
Quo vadis Homo futuris?
