Hey, good to see some old familiar avatars. I don't know what is going on with DI, a notice of closure with no clear date or expected time frame. When the community goes WTF, discussion is shut down with the "Alas Babylon" thread now gone.
Appears as the captain at DI is in panic mode with other things on his mind than how to keep the struggles against ignorance alive. Lots of theories of what the situation really is, I don't know. With the information wars going on, ATS went through hell to get as far as it did. DI is taking some hits from somewhere.
To put out the call to abandon ship, then restrict access to the life boats, does DI even know what it is doing? Been some more fun trauma bonding times.

I went over there and looked, but still couldn't find the thread. I reckon it must be behind a membership wall, something like our Vault, so I can't see it. I had a login over there once upon a time, but I've forgotten what it was, so can't see some things.
Nice of them to redirect the domain to here when the site sails off into the sunset. More activity can't be a bad thing!

I was merely playing with the idea of being stranded on a deserted island. Water and food are important, as is shelter, but beer, that is a subject of much conjecture between my buddy and me.
You see, we have argued the idea for years about how long you could last as a castaway if all you had to survive on was an endless supply of beer. It was earlier last year, I believe, when I found an article that answered that question. A man died from not eating for about a month while drinking only beer. With a healthy young body, you might go for two months, but six weeks is probably the max.
Otherwise, I'm just honing my "old curmudgeon" act. If we were in person, I'd be purposefully misunderstanding every spoken word to simulate being hard of hearing. Also, acting incompetent while perfectly capable is another old man act I'm perfecting.
So, get the hell off my lawn!
ETA: DTOM, yes, we are close, and I never did get an eyeball on you. But the way the area is getting so damn stupid every fricking weekend, I'm about ready to find another swamp. The motocross down the street isn't running yet, but the dynamite or Tannerite, along with the full-automatics, is what's destroying the peace around here, regardless of the weather. I got a mind to show them how it's done, but I have nothing to prove and don't like wasting time and money in such pursuits.

It's near impossible to post in these communities if people know who you are and even worse if you run the site. TSK is fucked and that's sad. He was 100% honest in his dealings with me and protected me when I needed it for what it's worth. I don't think he is the bad guy he is being made out to be and doesn't deserve this.

To "like" a post, there is a "Rate" button at the lower left edge of the post, and/or there is a "Thanks" button on the lower right side of the post.
It's been some time since I saw the layout from a purely member perspective, so someone else might need to chime in about the rest of the buttons you are seeing - I'm not sure which you see and which you don't.
ETA: I just noticed that I also get a Purge spammer" button at the bottom of every new member's first post. Never noticed that before, but it's pretty damned convenient - I don't have to hunt them down to destroy them any more! Yay me!
