'Iranian “death squads” are operating in the UK with plots to kidnap and kill Brits, MI5 has warned.
Spy chief Director General Ken McCallum revealed there had been at least 10 potential plots “to kidnap or even kill” British
citizens and dissidents seen as enemies of the Tehran regime.

His warning comes days before England are due to play Iran in their World Cup opening group game in Qatar.

Mr McCallum said in his annual threat assessment speech, that Iran was “the state actor which most frequently crosses into
terrorism.” The Security Services boss added that the current wave of headscarf protests in Iran had asked “fundamental
questions of the totalitarian regime.” He said: “Iran projects threat to the UK directly, through its aggressive intelligence services.


Mr McCallum explains the terror aspect and describes a fish he caught once.

“At its sharpest this includes ambitions to kidnap or even kill British or UK-based individuals perceived as enemies of the regime. “We have seen at least 10 such potential threats since January alone.” Mr McCallum used a football analogy, to say “Iran will only let people support one team and is prepared to use violence against those who don’t toe the line.”

The chief spook pointed to Iranian support for Russia in Ukraine. He added of the war: “The human cost is sickening. But
Putin is not winning.” Mr McCallum said united efforts had led to more than 600 Russian officials being booted out from
Europe – of which 400 were believed to be spies. “This has struck the most strategic blow against the Russian intelligence services in recent European history,” he added.

Following the 2018 Salisbury poisonings, Britain expelled 23 Russian spies posing as diplomats.
Mr McCallum revealed that since then over 100 Russian diplomatic visa applications had been refused on national security grounds. Continuing with the soccer theme, the MI5 boss said we “need to be clear about the opponents we’re facing.”

THREAT FROM RUSSIA
He went on: “Russia thinks nothing of throwing an elbow in the face, and cheats to get its way.
“We’ve had success in getting some of their players sent off, and for now they’re a bit distracted by the blame game in their own dressing room… but they will keep attacking us.” Mr McCallum said of the threat to the UK’s defence posed by China: “The Chinese authorities present a different order of challenge. “They’re trying to re-write the rulebook, to buy the league, to recruit our coaching staff to work for them.”

He said MI5 “was alive” to Russia, China and Iran working together by “loaning players to each other, amplifying their strengths.” He further revealed that police and security services had disrupted eight “potentially deadly” late-stage plots
since last year – both Islamist and extreme right-wing. It brings the number of foiled terror plots up to 37 since 2017.

Three-quarters of MI5’s current terrorist caseload is dedicated to preventing Islamist-inspired plots – and the remainder comes from the far right. Neo-Nazis were seeking to acquire weapons such as homemade or 3D-printed firearms, he said...'

'A former Brazilian congresswoman has been found guilty of ordering the murder of her preacher husband and sentenced
to 50 years and 28 days in prison, bringing an end to one of the most sensational crimes in recent Brazilian history.

The celebrity gospel singer Flordelis dos Santos de Souza, known as Flordelis, was also found guilty on Sunday of associated
crimes, including unsuccessfully attempting to poison Anderson do Carmo with cyanide at least six times before giving up and arranging his killing.


Flordelis dos Santos de Souza will now sing like a jailbird.

Do Carmo, 42, was shot multiple times in June 2019 as he returned to the gated home they shared with their dozens of children –both biological and adopted – just outside Rio de Janeiro.

Flordelis’s son Flávio was sentenced to 33 years in jail last year for pulling the trigger and his adopted brother Lucas Cezar
received seven years for helping buy the murder weapon, a sentence reduced because he collaborated with police. Four others, including one biological son and another adopted son, were given prison sentences earlier this year in a case that
–with its mix of religion, celebrity and politics –made headlines around the world.

In last week’s trial, Flordelis’s lawyers argued she had no knowledge of the crime carried out by people who wanted to protect her from alleged sexual and physical abuse perpetrated by the evangelical preacher. A judge rejected those arguments and said she was the intellectual author of the crime made to look like a robbery gone wrong.

Flordelis ordered the killing “because the victim kept a strict control of the family finances and administered conflicts rigidly, refusing to give preferential treatment to the ex-lawmaker’s closest [friends] in detriment to other members of the family,” the court said. Flordelis’s co-defendant, her daughter Simone Rodrigues, was sentenced to 31 years, four months and 20 days for her part in the attempted murders of Do Carmo. Two of Flordelis’s other children and a granddaughter were acquitted of murder and attempted
murder.

Flordelis, 61, was born and raised in Jacarezinho, a sprawling Rio favela where she began her singing career in the 1990s and met Do Carmo, who was 16 years her junior, when he was in his early teens. The couple went on to found a church together –the Ministry of Flordelis –and became famous for their huge family with 55 children, most of them adopted.

Thousands of people frequented the empire of nine churches where Flordelis sang, and she appeared on television as an example of a devoted mother. She parlayed that fame into a congressional seat in 2018, winning more votes than any other candidate in Rio and joining the new government of the then far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro. But investigators said that soon after taking her seat she began plotting Do Carmo’s removal. She was stripped of her parliamentary immunity in June 2021, paving the way for her trial...'

This is what I do to post images and gifs in threads or posts. I use IMGUR but they now ask for a phone number when you register and some peeps aren't at ease with that request.

As an alternative, I've installed a link at the very bottom of the index/home page for a third party image hosting server:





Freeimage is free, easy to register to and here is a little tutorial on how it works with our MyBB platform:

1 - Save your image or gif to your desktop so that it's easy to find.

2 - Then you can either drag and drop your image or gif OR you can click on the start uploading button.

3 - Now that you can see your image or gif, just click upload:





Your picture has now been uploaded and this is what you should see now:





In the Embed codes dropdown menu, select BBCode full, as shown here:





Now when you hover over the box underneath BBCode full, a copy button will appear:





Click on the copy button and you are now ready to paste that image in a thread or a post.

I use ( ctrl v ) Or Control V to paste it. Now you image shows up, like this:






Same goes for a gif, like this:




Once you get used to it, it's very repetitive in action so it becomes quick and easy.


Try it... use this thread as a test thread. 

It's fun to see full images or gifs instead of little attachments.
