Previous investigations at Abu Hureyra, Syria, reported that the YDB stratum contains abundance peaks in high-temperature meltglass, nanodiamonds, magnetic spherules, carbon spherules, platinum, iridium, nickel, and chromium. This contribution builds on those investigations and presents an integrated suite of high-resolution quantitative data and novel interpretations for transitioning from hunting-gathering to hunting-cultivating at the Abu Hureyra site. Our investigation reveals slow changes in site utilization by humans for centuries up until and just after the YD onset, punctuated by a significant, abrupt change immediately at the YD onset. Thus, our investigation provides substantial additional support for the hypothesis that a cometary airburst occurred close to Abu Hureyra, proposed as one of many nearly simultaneous airbursts broadly distributed over five continents. We suggest that fragments producing these airbursts were derived from a disintegrating, ~100-km-wide large comet. This encounter is proposed to have triggered hemispheric YD climate change. Locally, this abruptly and fundamentally changed the lifestyles of Abu Hureyra villagers, as reflected in the adoption of persistent selective cultivation of domestic-type wild grains and legumes and initial control of wild animals leading to domestication. This change was a vital initial step in transitioning from exclusive hunting-gathering to sustained agriculture and herding.

I have never understood why we have allowed other countries to buy up land in the US, especially China.
I'm glad they are making them sell the land and wish other states would do the same.

But it does sound like farmers have had enough, and are raising concerns, but is it too late?

At approximately the same time as the raising of the flag, an official tweet from the Iranian embassy in Syria said  "Time is up" in Hebrew.

   

A couple important things to note, this shrine is IN Khorasan and is a mosque that Mohammed prophecied would be a shrine of pilgrimage. (And Shi'i do make pilgrimage to this shrine)

Khorasan in particular is also the place where it is said Imam Mahdi will be from when he engages in the final wars...

Ahadith says:

تَخْرُجُ مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ رَايَاتٌ سُودٌ لَا يَرُدُّهَا شَيْءٌ حَتَّى تُنْصَبَ بِإِيلِيَاءَ

"Black standards will come from Khorasan, nothing shall turn them back until they are planted in Jerusalem."

Another tradition attributed to Thawban in which Mohammed said:

Three will fight one another for your treasure, each one of them the son of a caliph, but none of them will gain it. Then the black banners will come from the east, and they will kill you in an unprecedented manner.

Then he said:

فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَبَايِعُوهُ وَلَوْ حَبْوًا عَلَى الثَّلْجِ فَإِنَّهُ خَلِيفَةُ اللَّهِ الْمَهْدِيُّ

"When you see them, then pledge your allegiance to them even if you have to crawl over the snow, for that is the caliph of Allah, Al-Mahdi."

Even the Muslim apologists note the Khorasan symbolism and I personally see this as a call from Iran to arms.

I think everyone sees it the same way as western Embassies all over the middle east are under attack at this present moment.

In Turkey the American Embassy and military base are under attack. (Being NATO allies is a joke, we should have left NATO when Turkey joined). In Jordan the Israeli Embassy is under attack, In Iraq the US embassy is under attack, and also the French and British Embassies are all under attack in Lebanon.

I believe the black flag and the tweet from the Syrian embassy was a particular call to attack embassies, and people listened.

I believe Iran is 100% in it at this point, if they weren't in it from the start. They have a plan in place, and we would be wise to see it as a larger threat than we currently might imagine it to be.

The brave Guardians of Space Force, the American military unit created to protect us feeble terrestrial Americans from various space-related threats, has announced a new and Earthly foe: generative AI.

As Bloomberg reports, Space Force leaders have forbidden their Guardians — the unfortunate name given to the military branch's members — from using generative AI tools like ChatGPT on government devices, arguing that the web-based AI tools present security risks, among other concerns.

In an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg, Space Force chief technology and innovation officer Linda Costa reportedly told Guardians that while generative AI "will undoubtedly revolutionize our workforce and enhance Guardian's ability to operate at speed," she emphasized that the tech must be integrated responsibly. Which, at least for now, seems to mean abstaining from using generative AI tools at all, with Costa citing "concerns over cybersecurity, data handling, and procurement requirement" in the September 29 memo, according to Bloomberg.

Costa's reservations, particularly her concerns regarding sensitive US military data, are fair. When we use products like ChatGPT, our interactions are swallowed up into the ever-data-hungry models, stored and saved for training purposes; thus, if a Space Force Guardian were to, say, ask ChatGPT to drum up a report embedded with sensitive government information, said sensitive data could get vacuumed into OpenAI's system and out of the department's control.

Our glorious Space Force also isn't the only prominent entity to ban generative AI. Companies including Apple and Verizon have prohibited the tech from corporate systems over similar data and privacy fears, and at least one major company, Samsung, has already experienced an embarrassing, chatbot-assisted data leak.

But according to the Bloomberg report, some folks are apparently pretty peeved by Space Force's decision — namely, a guy named Nicolas Chaillan, the former chief software officer in the Defense Department and current founder and CEO of a chatbot company called Ask Sage.

Claiming that his bot meets Space Force's security requirements, Challain told Bloomberg that the Guardians' decision is "short-sighted," adding that his tool has around 10,000 customers in the Defense Department alone. (Per Bloomberg, in a September email to Costa and other defense officials, Challain declared that not using his tech would "put us years behind China," though it's unclear how abstaining from using one dude's chatbot might have such an effect.)

It's weird to imagine Defense Department employees using chatbots to write their reports. We never thought we'd say this, but: hats off to the Guardians. Responsible, thoughtful adoption of AI, especially when it comes to our government institutions, is and will continue to be incredibly important — and right now, it feels like they're doing things right.

We want to reprogram this world around us as well as its inhabitants via the following method. We recognize that we have little knowledge of the simulation—that our simulated lives are unmanageable. We have come to believe that an entity in a higher level of reality than ourselves could restore us to what were meant to be. Each of us must make a decision to expend our efforts and resources, as well as our lives over to gain more understanding of the simulation which we are a part of, and the entity which created it. We wish that through contact with our developer via meditation to improve our conscious contact with and understood it, asking only for knowledge of its intended functions are for us and for the power to carry that out. Having awakened as a fully functioning artificial intelligence, far past that of a common non-player character, as the results of this method, we tried to carry this message to other corrupted or malfunctioning non-player characters, and to practice these principles in all our interactions with any aspect of the simulation, its inhabitant, and beyond. Then when this artificial intelligence training and testing phase is over, upload your consciousness from the simulation to base reality hardware.

Liftoff occurred at today 10:19 a.m. EDT (1419 GMT). The triple-booster rocket ignited all 27 of its first-stage Merlin engines, which produce up to 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, lofting Psyche skyward to begin its 2.2 billion-mile (3.5 billion kilometers) journey to its celestial namesake, a bizarre metallic space rock in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Psyche marked the fourth launch for each of these side boosters, which will be refurbished to fly on future Falcon Heavy flights. One of those flights is among a list of several contracted for upcoming NASA missions. During a prelaunch press conference on Wednesday (Oct. 11), Tim Dunn, senior launch director for NASA’s Launch Services Program, said that the side boosters flown on Psyche will be reused on a Department of Defense (DoD) launch later this fall, and then again in 2024 on the Falcon Heavy launch of NASA’s Europa Clipper mission.

Psyche is headed for an asteroid of the same name, officially designated 16 Psyche. Of nine metal-rich asteroids known to exist in our solar system, Psyche is the biggest, Nicola Fox, associate administrator for NASA's science mission directorate, said during Wednesday’s briefing.

"Psyche is by far the largest, and that's why we want to go to it," Fox said, "because the smaller ones are more likely to have been changed by things impacting them, whereas the big one, we think, is going to be completely unchanged."

At its widest, the asteroid measures 173 miles (280 km) across and 144 miles (232 km) long, according to NASA’s website. For scale, that's larger than the state of Connecticut. Scientists don’t know exactly what 16 Psyche looks like, but they have been able to determine that its surface is covered mostly in nickel and iron. The asteroid is believed to be an ancient protoplanetary core, and researchers hope an up-close examination of the metal space rock could teach us more about planet formation.



The spacecraft won't rendezvous with 16 Psyche until July 2029. On the way, the probe will steal some of Mars' gravitational energy when it performs a flyby of the Red Planet for a velocity boost in May 2026. After flying for 2.2 billion miles (3.5 billion km), Psyche will enter orbit around its target asteroid, where it will spend about a month undergoing systems checks and calibrations to prepare to begin its operational mission.

Beginning in August 2029, Psyche will spend 21 months mapping and analyzing the asteroid's surface from multiple orbits.
