Good morning (it's always 'morning' somewhere anyway) everyone!

I present to RN a small journey inside IgnorantGod's current belief, or rather the one he'd like to 'be'. That is, the current 'color' of self-delusion!

As an introduction, I offer two quotes attributed to Heraclitea, "the weeping philosopher" :

Quote:"No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man."

And :

Quote:"The meaning of the river flowing is not that all things are changing so that we cannot encounter them twice but that some things stay the same only by changing."

Here's a question : What makes the river, the same?

It is, in fact, the ship of Theseus paradox. However, it is a paradox only by context. In reality, even if all parts of the ship is replaced, as long as those using it and those recognizing the form, indentify it as "the ship of Theseus", then it is. If someone changes its name, and that name spreads, so that at some point, most recognizes it as such, then it is no longer "the ship of Theseus". At least that's how I view it.

Hence a river is the same as long as there are people naming and mapping it, even if its water is always changing. Its location, and the people interacting with it define its indentity. Although, this makes sense only if there's something to assume a 'one out of the rest'. A bit like self-awareness is the act of assuming itself as a 'one'. The act of naming is precisely that. A 'name', or rather a word, is essentially separating a 'one out of the rest'.

Consequently, the above is the foundation of conceptualization, and compartmentalization. This allows abstraction, and formulation, or recognition of patterns; that which lies beneath interactions between the different 'ones' and the 'stage' (environment). Note that I don't particularly see much difference between a 'stage' and an 'actor' (assumed 'one'), since the 'stage' can be interprated as made of multiple smaller 'ones'.

Now, this was supposed to be an introduction, and it seems to have taken a bigger proportion than initially expected. This thread has three sections, as implied by the title. The first one, which I'll start after this paragraph, is about uncertainty. It is somewhat of an argument against the belief that human can discover and establish such a thing as 'Absolute Truth' through logic, mathematics and/or observation by using Godel's Incompleteness Theorems and the limits of physical matter. The second part is about liminality, the transitory phase between two more or less 'stable' state of rites of passage. And finally the last section is referring to the similarity between measurement problem of quantum mechanics and the experience of the present.

And so, off I go!

Uncertainty : One cannot know 'everything' about 'anything'

First of all, here's a link on Godel's Incompleteness Theorems

The first theorem :

Quote:"The first incompleteness theorem states that in any consistent formal system F within which a certain amount of arithmetic can be carried out, there are statements of the language of F which can neither be proved nor disproved in F."

And the second :

Quote:"According to the second incompleteness theorem, such a formal system cannot prove that the system itself is consistent (assuming it is indeed consistent)."

It is important, when extrapolating an idea/statement from one concept to a more general attribute, to specify the context of that starting point. As such, the link above do describe well the limits of both theorems, within mathematics itself, and to any efforts at generalizing his theorems in philosophy.

Quote:"In order to understand Gödel’s theorems, one must first explain the key concepts essential to it, such as “formal system”, “consistency”, and “completeness”. Roughly, a formal system is a system of axioms equipped with rules of inference, which allow one to generate new theorems."

The quote above from the introduction is enough for this thread in regards to its application within mathematics. For anyone interested, it is a fascinating read, however it's honestly way over my paygrade. This section is my attempt at supporting uncertainty by generalizing the statement that one cannot derive or prove all axioms of a system with solely itself. The "system" here can be replaced by philosophy, mathematics or observations.

I tried to shorten this, but the following paragraph do alerts well of taking context into account, and so I kept it full :

Quote:"A common misunderstanding is to interpret Gödel’s first theorem as showing that there are truths that cannot be proved. This is, however, incorrect, for the incompleteness theorem does not deal with provability in any absolute sense, but only concerns derivability in some particular formal system or another. For any statement A unprovable in a particular formal system F, there are, trivially, other formal systems in which A is provable (take A as an axiom). On the other hand, there is the extremely powerful standard axiom system of Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory (denoted as ZF, or, with the axiom of choice, ZFC; see the section on the axioms of ZFC in the entry on set theory), which is more than sufficient for the derivation of all ordinary mathematics. Now there are, by Gödel’s first theorem, arithmetical truths that are not provable even in ZFC. Proving them would thus require a formal system that incorporates methods going beyond ZFC. There is thus a sense in which such truths are not provable using today’s “ordinary” mathematical methods and axioms, nor can they be proved in a way that mathematicians would today regard as unproblematic and conclusive."

*Italics mine

The last part that I've put in italic is the one that I have particular interest for here. This is what I extrapolate to philosophy, mathematics and observation. Rationalism often critics materialism for its effort at trying to find 'Truths' with limited perception and subsenquently assume Logos to be the 'key' to discover such. However, from where I stand, it seems logic and mathematics are themselves limited, and thus cannot prove themselves with only themselves, let alone the universe.

Human perception being limited means that human thoughts are also limited, or so I believe. Therefore, in order to prove or disprove human statements, one "...would thus require a formal system that incorporates methods going beyond..." human. But then again, that refers to human as one is today. Provided there was a techno-singularity whereas human modifies its body and brain with technology and digital 'features', who knows what it may find, discover or elaborate. If anything, it'll probably be able to perform such methods that go 'beyond' human. And to close the loop, it would probably still be unable to 'escape' some limits.

So yeah, I believe in Uncertainty, while being uncertain of such prevalence of uncertitude. Basically, I don't know if I don't know, or if I'm self-deluding at not knowing. But who knows what I'll be tomorrow? Since everything, including the 'self' seems to be in constant change, as the second part elaborate.

Transitory : 'Everything' is ever in the act of 'becoming'

Liminality, the transitory phase of rites of passage. It is described as the state whereas initiates aren't entirely separated from their former state nor are they entirely in their next, and thus are somewhat in a vague and ambiguous 'position' in between. One of the most emphasized aspect was the dangerosity of such state, both for initiates and for societies, hence why they were mostly secluded outside the village during that phase, and had 'guides' or 'masters of ceremonies' alongside.

Thresholds were seen as transitory space that often marked the begining or ending of a transition between two phases. They still embody the separation between two spaces, most common being the separation of one's territory (home) and the wild (its becoming increasingly wild outside since covid me thinks). But thresholds are spaces themselves, not really inside yet not really outside neither. The act of defining the liminal phase/state/space is purely dependent on the notion of stability. Rather than being defined as a stable state itself, it is defined by those, as an in between, a byproduct from 'lack of' stability.

Such concept can, and has been extrapolated. In his book "The Trickster and the Paranormal", George P. Hansen use the term liminal to define anything in between two boundaries, such as, words. Things that cannot be described with words, that which is in between words. One can also refer an individual, a 'liminal person', whom boundaries of the 'self' are blurried. In short, liminality somewhat refers to the limits of comcepts, the more one tries to define the boundaries between two things, the more they become blurried. Just like dawn and twilight are neither 'day' or 'night'. They are their own 'thing', and yet can only be defined as a transition between the those two, because of their 'more stable' appearance.

Without the concept of stability, everything is in motion, and hence, changing constantly. Just as the second quote of Heraclitea above, except extrapolated to 'everything'. This, in my opinion, also includes the 'self'. It also marks the transition to the third and last part of this thread.

Actuality : One cannot 'know' itself, only 'experience' itself

That one came to me as an "Ah-Ha" moment quite recently. I was juggling with the idea that I can't 'know' myself since I can only analyze 'me' after the fact. That is, after the first reaction of a stimuli. Even with introspection and retrospection, it doesn't garantee that, provided a sufficiently similar event occurred, I'd react and/or think/experience such the same way. Only once it happened, if it does, can I state; "I reacted like 'this'" and "thought like 'that'", which are words I've learned of which I also assume means what I experienced.

That's about when I realized it was somewhat similar to the measurement problem in quantum mechanics. Somewhat because I don't know if the 'self' potential (something akin to wavefunctions) is in superpositions and only collapse take a value at 'now'. It is not the Von Neumann-Wigner Interpretation, of which, from the few bits I could glean here and there on the net, is a theory about quantum consciousness collapsing the wavefunction. It is more specifically the 'self' in relation with 'itself', that is, can only ever 'experience' it, not 'know' it. There are no way to garantee the accuracy of any predictions, unless it happens, just like the result of the measurement is still somewhat 'random' and unpredictable (for now at least) until measured and observed.

The 'present' is the actualization of potential 'outcomes'. When looking at the 'self' from this perspective, the 'self' is a pool of potential reactions, thoughts and 'experiences' that collapse at the 'now'. I'm still wondering if the 'now' is somewhat 'flowing' or 'bipping'. The latter did bring an interesting idea in that 'reality' could actually collapse and 'reconstruct' at each bips, and thus was an entirely different 'thing' than the previous bip!

Alright, I think I've elaborate enough for now on the three main points that make up my current state of 'view' of 'reality' and 'existence'. Seems like it was 'the day' that conherency's on my side! I don't recall a time I formulated my point of view that much.

Thank you for reading, and looking forward for your opinions! It is my hope that this thread may bring an interesting discussion on any subjects related to the general topic of 'existence', 'experience', etc.

Cheers!

Thank you for reading, and looking forward for your opinions! It is my hope that this thread may bring an interesting discussion on any subjects related to the general topic of 'existence', 'experience', etc.

Quote:A study by researchers at Queen Mary University of London and University College London has found that humans have a form of remote touch, or the ability to sense objects without direct contact, a sense that some animals have.

Human touch is typically understood as a proximal sense, limited to what we physically touch. However, recent findings in animal sensory systems have challenged this view. Certain shorebirds, such as sandpipers and plovers, use a form of "remote touch" to detect prey hidden beneath the sand. Remote touch allows the detection of objects buried under granular materials through subtle mechanical cues transmitted through the medium, when a moving pressure is applied nearby.

The study in IEEE International Conference on Development and Learning (ICDL) investigated whether humans share a similar capability. Participants moved their fingers gently through sand to locate a hidden cube before physically touching it. Remarkably, the results revealed a comparable ability to that seen in shorebirds, despite humans lacking the specialized beak structures that enable this sense in birds.

Results show human hands have more sensitivity than expected
By modeling the physical aspects of the phenomenon, the study found that human hands are remarkably sensitive, detecting the presence of buried objects by perceiving minute displacements in the sand surrounding them. This sensitivity approaches the theoretical physical threshold of what can be detected from mechanical "reflections" in granular material, when there is a sand movement that is "reflected" on a stable surface (the hidden object).

Do humans or robots perform better on remote touch?
When comparing a human's performance with a robotic tactile sensor trained using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm, humans achieved an impressive 70.7% precision within the expected detectable range. Interestingly, the robot could sense objects from slightly farther distances on average but often produced false positives, yielding only 40% overall precision.

These findings confirm that people can genuinely sense an object before physical contact, a surprising capacity for a sense that is usually concerned with objects that enter in direct contact with us. Both humans and robots performed very close to the maximum sensitivity predicted with physical models and displacement.

Why is the study important?
This research reveals that humans can detect objects buried in sand before actual contact, expanding our understanding of how far the sense of touch can reach. It provides quantitative evidence for a tactile skill not previously documented in humans. The findings also offer valuable benchmarks for improving assistive technology and robotic tactile sensing. By using human perception as a model, engineers can design robotic systems that integrate natural-like touch sensitivity for real-world applications such as probing, excavation, or search tasks where vision is limited.
What are the wider implications?
Elisabetta Versace, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and lead of the Prepared Minds Lab at Queen Mary University of London who conceived the human experiments said, "It's the first time that remote touch has been studied in humans and it changes our conception of the perceptual world (what is called the "receptive field") in living beings, including humans."

Zhengqi Chen, Ph.D. student of Advanced Robotics Lab at Queen Mary University of London, said, "The discovery opens possibilities for designing tools and assistive technologies that extend human tactile perception. These insights could inform the development of advanced robots capable of delicate operations.

"For example, locating archaeological artifacts without damage, or exploring sandy or granular terrains such as Martian soil or ocean floors. More broadly, this research paves the way for touch-based systems that make hidden or hazardous exploration safer, smarter, and more effective."

Lorenzo Jamone, Associate Professor in Robotics & AI at University College London, said, "What makes this research especially exciting is how the human and robotic studies informed each other. The human experiments guided the robot's learning approach, and the robot's performance provided new perspectives for interpreting the human data. It's a great example of how psychology, robotics, and artificial intelligence can come together, showing that multidisciplinary collaboration can spark both fundamental discoveries and technological innovation."

Researchers carried out two studies: the first, a human study assessing fingertip sensitivity to tactile cues from buried objects; the second, a robotic experiment using a tactile-equipped robotic arm and a Long Short-Term Memory model to detect object presence.

I'm not sure where to park this one because I don't even know how to describe the experience other than very...weird.

I woke up tonight/this morning (I don't sleep well sometimes these days) and I was thinking about a childhood very good friend of mine, not just casually either. It was a very focused and detailed thought. His name was John, and we were best friends from age 7 or so until about 12. My family moved away about that time and eventually John and I lost contact.

The thought I woke up with this morning is as follows....

About 3 years ago I learned that John had moved (coincidentally) to Colorado. Of all the places I've lived around the globe I never expected John would wind up in the same state as me. I had no choice but to reach out to him if nothing else to say hello. I found an email address for him and, not knowing if it would work or not, I wrote out a quick email to say "Hi". About 3 weeks later, to my surprise, I received a reply, but the reply wasn't from John, it was from his wife.

His wife profusely thanked me for reaching out to him, but unfortunately John had passed away several months before. His wife was over the top with thanks for trying to contact him (which I found odd) and stated what a terrible shame it was that we never got to meet up. She went on to say that John had talked about me for their entire married life and had searched for me many times with no success.

His wife and I exchanged a couple of emails, first mine offering my sincerest condolences and asking about John. I also provided a little background on myself and what I'd been doing all these years. She replied with a lengthy email about John, his personality, his hobbies and what a great guy he was. I had not really intended anything more than my second condolence email, figuring that would be the end of it. However, upon reading her lengthy reply now I had some questions. She had also posed some questions to me which I answered in my follow up. She sounded like a very nice and loving wife.

John had always been a big Star Trek nut, so big that I figured he was the type who wound up going to conventions as an adult, so I inquired about this. Her response was that my question confirmed my identity as the person John always talked about, and she went on to say that while he was a lifelong fan of Star Trek he never went overboard with it. In his later years his interest in Star Trek waned and he took up model trains as a hobby (apparently in a big way). There were a couple other questions, but you get the idea. I wasn't trying to start any sort of a long term dialog with this woman, just a few simple questions. She replied (once I think), I thanked her and that was the end of it.

Fast forward to my waking up this morning. I remembered all of that as I laid there awake. Except for one problem...I can find no record of those conversations ever having taken place. None. I keep everything, and I mean every-thing, for decades, and I could find absolutely no record of these events ever taking place. Then I started wondering if it had all been just a dream of some kind. Maybe none of it was real.

I got up and decided to do some digging. Turns out John really did move to Colorado. And, it also turns out John really did die in 2019. And, if this wasn't enough, many of the sympathy messages from friends and family in his obituary repeatedly complimented him on his fantastic model train work. There's no way I could have known any of those details without his wife telling me. I knew I had never previously seen an obituary for John, so I never would have read the sympathy messages.

The overall thought/memory I woke up with was far more detailed than what I've written here, but again you get the idea.

Was it real? Or was it 'Memorex' (i.e. just some crazy coincidence?). Or...was it something completely different, like some metaphysical communication?

What do you think?

The rabbit's foot is considered a good luck charm due to a blend of ancient superstitions and folklore. The belief in the rabbit's foot as a lucky charm is thought to have roots in African American folk magic, known as hoodoo, and may have been influenced by European traditions as well. According to folklore researcher Bill Ellis, the rabbit's foot represents a dead witch, neutralizing any threat it might pose.

In some cultures, the rabbit's foot is believed to bring good luck because it is associated with the dead body of a criminal. The rabbit's foot is also linked to the European good luck charm called the Hand of Glory, a hand cut from a hanged man and then pickled.
The Illusion of Time

The nature of time has long puzzled scientists, philosophers, and spiritual seekers alike. The article from Popular Mechanics explores the idea that there is no fundamental difference between the past and the future, suggesting that our experience of time’s flow may be a construct of the human mind rather than an objective feature of reality. This aligns with theories in physics, particularly Einstein’s theory of relativity, which suggests that time is relative and intertwined with space, not a linear sequence of events.

From a scientific perspective, time appears to be an emergent property rather than an absolute force. Quantum mechanics and relativity hint that past, present, and future may all exist simultaneously in a “block universe” where every moment is fixed and unchanging. If this is true, then what we perceive as the passage of time is merely the way our consciousness moves through this static structure. Our brains, limited by sensory input and memory, construct a narrative that gives meaning to our experiences, leading us to believe that time flows in one direction.

Ancient traditions and spiritual teachings have also questioned the reality of time, often describing it as a veil that distorts our perception of truth. The Hindu concept of Māyā suggests that time, along with the material world, is an illusion that traps the soul in cycles of birth and rebirth (Samsara). The Bhagavad Gita echoes this idea, portraying Krishna as a being who exists beyond time, witnessing all events simultaneously. Similarly, Buddhist teachings emphasize the impermanence (anicca) of all things, suggesting that our attachment to time is a root cause of suffering.

The ancient Greeks also contemplated the nature of time. The philosopher Parmenides argued that change and motion are illusions, and that reality is an unchanging, eternal whole. His ideas prefigured the modern “block universe” theory, in which all moments coexist. In contrast, Heraclitus believed in perpetual change, yet his famous statement—“You cannot step into the same river twice”—implies a cyclical nature to time rather than a strict linear progression.

If time is merely a construct of human perception, it raises profound questions about free will, destiny, and the nature of existence. Are we merely observing events that have already happened in a predetermined universe, or does our consciousness actively shape reality? The Dao De Jing, a foundational Taoist text, suggests that the flow of time is like a river—effortless and beyond human control. Laozi, the text’s attributed author, advises aligning with this natural flow rather than resisting it.

While science has yet to answer these questions definitively, the idea that time is an illusion is not new—it is a thread that weaves through both ancient philosophy and modern physics. If our understanding of time is merely a construct of perception, then reality itself may be far more mysterious than we have ever imagined.

https://www.popularmechanics.com/science...st-future/

Our place within time and space is a paradox—both fleeting and eternal, bound by perception yet connected to something beyond it. If time is an illusion, then our lives are not mere sequences of events but rather moments of consciousness passing through an intricate, multidimensional existence. The past, present, and future may not be separate, but rather different perspectives of the same unified reality.

Science suggests that our perception of time arises from our brain’s need to process change, much like a projector casting individual frames onto a screen to create the illusion of movement. If we step beyond this illusion, what remains? Some theories, such as quantum entanglement and the holographic principle, suggest that everything is interconnected—that the universe is not a vast, empty void but an intricate web of information, where all things influence one another beyond the limits of space and time.

Spiritual traditions echo this sentiment, teaching that we are not simply beings moving through time but rather eternal consciousness experiencing reality through a temporal lens. If time is a construct of perception, then so too is our sense of limitation. Perhaps our true nature is not confined to the physical realm but extends into something infinite—an existence not measured by clocks but by awareness itself.

As Albert Einstein famously wrote in a letter after the passing of a friend, “The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” If this is true, then we are not bound by time, but rather participants in a greater, timeless unfolding—one that we are only beginning to understand.

“Magnum Opus” or “great work”; this is what ancient esoteric alchemists called the philosopher’s stone – the much sought after material that would cure the sick, give you eternal life and turn any metal into gold. Couldn’t possibly exist, right? As an actual substance that makes you immortal and transforms plain metal into gold it is doubtful, though we do know that many alchemists put their blood, sweat, and tears into trying to make it (there even exists online Isaac Newton’s recipe for the substance); However as a very deep and meaningful spiritual practice that has been used by Hermetic alchemists for hundreds of years, that is no question.
The reason that alchemists called the philosopher’s stone the magnum opus was because they considered it to be their life’s goal; the end all be all for them to achieve, if they achieve it at all. It being the perfect material, it could easily be compared to the perfect being. It is not something you expect to achieve, but you work towards it every day regardless. That is the spiritual way to look at the philosopher’s stone. You at your current self are a base metal, and then you go through the alchemical process, and come out gold.

This alchemical process has gone through many changes throughout the ages, but I want to look at how it started, which is with four stages based on colors. The first stage is nigredo, or blackening. In practical alchemy this involves the decomposition of the materials to their base forms and becoming cleansed; this can be compared to shedding your psychological ego, and coming to terms with your inner demons. That can be things you have done in the past, or things that have been done to you.
Next comes albedo, or whiteness. After the difficult work of spiritual death in nigredo, you go through a cleansing, and become as a new person would. You feel freed from your past self and are happy to move forward and take on new things. New things may awaken in you that were hidden by your ego before.

Then you will experience citrinitas, or yellowing. After opening yourself to opportunities, you will go through a spiritual awakening. You will become wiser and stronger emotionally to handle the challenges that life throws at you. This process will likely take longer than the others, as it can take some people years to truly become wise; and for some they may get stuck in this step or any other step for that matter.
Finally there is rubedo, or redness. The physical philosopher’s stone was associated with the color red, and this step is symbolic of the completion of the magnum opus. After all the steps you went through – shedding your old self, becoming cleansed of those impurities, and having a spiritual awakening, you will reach wholeness with yourself. This is the great work in spiritual terms. It is a daily process, and there may be times when you have to take a step back and begin again, but you have a whole lifetime to reach a state of wholeness.
This self-work permeates through many alchemic and Hermetic teachings, and influenced the work of many great men such as Isaac Newton and Carl Jung, and that is why it still permeates parts of western sub-cultures and even pop-culture even today. However, I feel that many have lost this important spiritual process that was so core to alchemy, and it doesn’t require any materials or magick, just self-work and dedication.
Christ Oil and Santa Claus Reference to Enlightenment
The concept of Christ Oil and its connection to Santa Claus is rooted in esoteric knowledge and biblical symbolism. Christ Oil, also known as CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid), is a vital substance within the human body, flowing through the brain and spine. It is often referred to as the “water of life” or “oil of gladness” (Psalm 45:7).

In esoteric traditions, Santa Claus (or Saint Nicholas) is associated with the Claustrum, a mysterious region within the cerebrum brain. The Claustrum is said to produce an oily substance that flows down the spinal cord, bringing gifts and enlightenment to the individual. This concept is linked to the idea of Christ Oil, as both are connected to the anointing oil of biblical significance.

Symbolism and Interpretation
Christ as the Anointed One: In biblical context, Christ (meaning “anointed one”) refers to the Messiah, who was consecrated with oil for spiritual leadership and guidance. Similarly, Christ Oil within the human body represents the divine spark or inner light, guiding individuals toward spiritual growth and enlightenment.
Santa Claus as the Bringer of Gifts: Santa Claus, as a symbol of generosity and kindness, is associated with the Claustrum’s oily substance, which brings gifts and blessings to the individual. This parallels the biblical concept of Christ as the bringer of spiritual gifts and enlightenment.
Kundalini and the Pineal Gland: The esoteric connection between Santa Claus and Christ Oil is also linked to the Kundalini energy and the pineal gland. The pineal gland is often referred to as the “third eye” or “seat of the soul,” and its activation is said to bring about spiritual awakening and enlightenment. The Claustrum’s oily substance is believed to play a role in this process, much like the biblical concept of Christ as the bringer of light and understanding.
The latter analyses were completed to determine the absolute activity oF the days of the experience compared to the typical monthly values rather than restricting the analyses to the relative differences between the key day and the days before and afterwards. All analyses were completed using SPSSX software on a DEC2020 computer. MANOVA for all 62 subjects according to the three major groups (HH, LH, LM plus HM), gender, and the seven repeated measures (key days plus/minus 3 days) of geomagnetic activity (AA values) demonstrated no significant group or ^encer interactions. However, there was a significant (F=2.53, df=12, p=.003) interaction between groups and the geomagnetic activity over days for the log pose transformed AA values (Fig"re 1). There was also a nearly significant gaily difference (c=2.54, df=5,336, p=.03). There were neither gender by day or gender by group by day interactions. The group by day interaction was significant (p=.01) for the absolute AA values as well. Six of the experimental days involved the testing of two subjects rather than one. To determine if this slight modification in procedure may have altered the geomagnetic contribution to the psi effect, additional analyses were completed on those days (cases) where only one subject was tested. The basic results are shown in Figure 2. There was no appreciable change in the geomagnetic temporal pattern and the significant day by group interactions were not affected. A "high hit" would ne a rank in the top cuartile (e.g, #1 or 12 it a oooi of eight; 41 in a cool of six), a "low hit" would be a rank in the ., #3 or #4 in a pool of eight; #2 or #3 in a pool of "high miss" would bP a rank, in the third quartile (P. g., #5 or #6 in a oool of eight; 04 or #5 in a pool of six); a "low miss" would be a rank in the fourtn quartile (47 or #8 in a Doll of eight; #6 in a pool of six). The first night' eaci subject spent at the Maimonides Laboratory was utilized and the other nights were discarded. This yielded 62 experimental -L nights available for analysis -- 18 "high hits," 29 "low hits," 7 "high misses," and 8 "'low misses." All analyses were completed using SPSSX software on a DEC2020 computer.
I took this last section from two different Catholic texts.
Seraphim: The highest order, known for their intense love and worship of God, often depicted as six-winged beings (Isaiah 6:2-7).
Cherubim: The second-highest order, associated with the throne of God and often depicted as four-winged beings (Exodus 25:18-22, Ezekiel 10:1-22).
Thrones: The third-highest order, responsible for governing and maintaining the divine order (Colossians 1:16).
Dominions: The fourth order, involved in governing and ruling over various aspects of creation (Ephesians 1:21).
Virtues: The fifth order, associated with moral virtues and the governance of the universe (1 Peter 3:7).
Powers: The sixth order, responsible for exercising authority and power in the universe (Ephesians 1:21).
Principalities: The seventh order, involved in governing and guiding nations and peoples (Ephesians 6:12).
Archangels: The eighth order, often depicted as high-ranking angels, such as Michael and Gabriel (Jude 1:9, Revelation 12:7-9).
Angels: The lowest order, yet still considered “angels” due to their role as messengers and servants of God (Hebrews 1:14)

Seraphim - Isaiah 6:2, 6:6; Ezekiel 1:13
Leading this sphere are the Seraphim, which means in Hebrew “to burn”. Out of all of the angels, the Seraphim have the most intimate knowledge of God and they meditate upon His Person, meaning they contemplate on the great mystery about who and what God is, including the Trinity. Because they comprehend God with greater clarity than any other of God’s creations, they are so passionately in love with Him due to so much that has been revealed to them and they are characterized by fire, which is thus why they are often referred to as the burning ones. And because of this great in depth knowledge of God and their burning passionate love for Him that defines and characterizes their being, it is speculated that the Seraphim are incapable of sinning because such knowledge and love/charity cannot allow them to do so; it would become a contradiction of their nature and being.

Second to the Seraphim are the Cherubim. While the Seraphim contemplate on God as a Person, the Cherubim meditate upon His Divine Plan for all of Creation. Because of their knowledge and understanding of the Divine Plan, the Cherubim are often translated to mean “fullness of wisdom”. In accordance with their contemplation about the Divine Plan, the Seraphim teach the Cherubim about the Divine Person which helps the Cherubim understand the Divine Plan all the more.

Third in rank within this First Sphere are the Thrones and they represent the judicial power of God. From the Cherubim, they learn about the Divine Person of God and His Divine Plan, which in turn allows them to mediate upon the power of God and His judgments, such as man’s banishment from Eden, the Flood of Noah, etc. The Thrones are responsible for passing on their divine knowledge down to the Second Sphere of the Hierarchy.

Dominions (also called Dominations) - Ephesians 1:21, Colossians 1:16
The word Dominions have root in the Latin word dominus, which means “master” or “lord”. Thus the Dominions are the angels of authority and they are believed to be the leaders of the Second Sphere of the Angelic Hierarchy and they pass on the orders of knowledge of God that they received from the Thrones down to those under their charge. In essence, they are similar to the Archangels in the Third Sphere in terms of duty, but they oversee the affairs of guarding the Universe and protecting it from harm.

Powers (also called Authorities) - Ephesians 1:21, 1 Peter 3:22
It is believed that the Powers fight the forces of evil that desire to destroy the Creation. It is thus possible to speculate that if Satan and his demons were to make an effort to destroy the Earth by means manipulating the forces of the Universe, such as through a great asteroid or a solar flare, the Powers would prevent the Enemy from succeeding.

Virtues - Ephesians 1:21, 1 Peter 3:22
The Virtues mean “might” and “energy”. It is believed that they oversee the movements of planets, stars, and the forces of nature. Thus, they make sure that the Universe operates according to God’s Design.

*Note: Some traditions rank the Virtues above the Powers in the hierarchy.

THE THIRD SPHERE
The duties of the Third Sphere are to look after human beings

Principalities - Romans 8:38; Ephesians 3:10, 6:12; Colossians 1:16, 2:15
The Principalities are the Guardian Angels of nations and cities. There are also evil Principalities who had joined Satan in his rebellion against God and thus there are also Principalities appointed by Satan to influence nations and cities for evil, which is evident by the fact that in Daniel 10:13 the Prophet Daniel is told by an angel that there was a spiritual power referred to as the prince of Persia who that angel was in conflict with until the Archangel Michael came to his aid.

Archangels - 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Jude 9
The Archangels are Guardian Angels appointed to guard special individuals, such as the Church, the Pope, possibly the Virgin Mary while one Earth, etc. What makes it extremely strange is that even though the Angelic Host as a whole consists of an innumerable amount of angels, Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition indicates that there are only seven angels who have this rank (Tobit 12:15; Revelation 1:4,20; 3:1; 8:2,6; and Isaiah 63:9). More on this will be addressed at a later time.

Angels - Numerous references!
These are the angels who directly look after the affairs of mankind and deliver God’s Divine Revelation to us. The Guardian Angels are part of this choir.

Before modern religions came around to spoil the party with their rules about idolatry, many pagan groups and other cultures—from Ireland to India to elsewhere in the world—worshipped or mythologized trees. Some people used trees as oracles. Some incorporated them into worship rituals. And some, like the ancient Celts, regarded them as the homes of certain spirits and gods.

The first possible origin of the phrase knock on wood is that it’s a more modern equivalent to the ruckus that pagan Europeans raised to chase evil spirits away from their homes or to prevent them from hearing about, and thereby ruining, a person’s good luck

The other suggested origin is that some of these tree worshippers laid their hands on a tree when asking for favor from the spirits or gods who lived inside it, and they would touch and thank the tree after a run of good luck as a show of gratitude to these supernatural powers. Over the centuries, the religious rite may have morphed into the superstitious knock that acknowledges luck and keeps it going.

“In either case, you are seeking protection against envy and anger,” Bechtel wrote. “The envy of evil spirits and the anger of the gods, who take a dim view on mortals bearing too much pride, and who get especially annoyed when they’re responsible for your run of good luck and you’re not grateful.”

Another possibility? That it simply came from Tig Touch-Wood, a Victorian-era children’s game. As described in the 1891 book The Boy's Modern Playmate, “Tig” is the person who is “It,” and after a number of trees have been chosen as bases, “as long as the player is touching one of these authorized posts, Tig cannot touch him; his only chance is to catch him while flitting from one post to another.”

But for anyone who may be superstitious, we’re sure knocking on wood is no child’s play.

It's eery to think of how many of these little "rituals" we've been doing for so long are actually deeply rooted in pagan mystical magick and, in this case, the worship of trees. Essentially, asking the "tree gods" to ward of evil spirits by knocking on wood.

Looks like it could be considered Idolatry to "knock on wood," apparently.

We’ve all felt deja vu at one time or another. It’s that weird feeling that we’re experiencing something for the second time, and it’s something that is associated with the memory system in our brains. However, there’s also an opposite to deja vu, and it’s something that we’ve all probably experienced at one time or another, but you might now know that there is actually a name for it, and that name is jamais vu.

Have you ever looked at a word so much—or even said a word so much—that it suddenly didn’t feel real anymore? Maybe it just seemed to lose all meaning for some reason. Or, perhaps someone you have known for years suddenly seems like a stranger when you look at them—even for just a split second.

When this happens, you’re experiencing what scientists call jamais vu. In new research featured in the journal Memory, researchers look deeper at the phenomenon and how it works. To test the experience out, the researchers had participants complete a variety of different tests to see how long it would take words that were familiar to become meaningless or confusing.

Throughout their testing, the researchers tried having 94 undergraduates write out twelve different words, including some common words like “door” and some that were much less common, like “sward.” The researchers asked the participants to write down the words as quickly as they could. They told them they could stop for a number of reasons—including being bored or feeling peculiar, or even if their hand started hurting.

The researchers found that 70 percent of the participants stopped at least once because they experienced a feeling similar to what scientists define as jamais vu. This tended to occur after writing the words after one minute, usually around 33 repetitions of the word. During a second experiment, though, the participants were asked to write out the word “the.”

This time, they found that 55 percent of the participants experienced jamais vu after 27 repetitions of the word. The participants recorded their experiences in a multitude of ways, too. Some said they seemed to lose control of their hand, while others said something didn’t seem right, and the word looked like it shouldn’t be a word but that someone had tricked them into thinking it was one.

The researchers say they’ve been working on the research for the past 15 years, trying to learn more about this phenomenon and how it affects our brains. They say that it makes sense for our brain to have a system like jamais vu, as our brains need to stay flexible to the stressors that we throw at it, and that being able to complete a “soft reset” of sorts when staring at something too long may be one way the brain keeps from overextending itself.

I've had a few weird experiences like this.

Reincarnation was something I had never believed in. Mainly because I was raised in "church." I was taught that we all get one life. One chance. But, something has nagged at me my whole life. I kept this feeling deep within as I journeyed through this life. It was this small voice inside me that kept saying...

I've been here before.

As I have shared, I have been on a spiritual journey for a while. All kinds of doors have been unlocked for me. As I've journeyed through the space within my minds eye I have started to wake up to a memory. A memory of a past life. I believe this was my last life, but not my only other life. I believe that this has happened more then once, simply because, if I've lived another life that I'm starting to remember, then how many more lives have I lived?

When I was about 15 I had an experience where I had this intense vision. This vision was so strong it stuck with me all of these years. It stuck with me because it was a memory of my last life.

And how it ended...

War...

I am starting to remember. It was cold, and early morning. Sirens rang out. I run out of my tent and look up at the sky. Planes everywhere. The sky is red. I see bombs start to fall. Boom. Boom. All around me. I run, but I don't know where I'm running to. Suddenly a flash of white light...

This was the end to my last life. World War 2.

I have a few fuzzy memories about a life I believe was before this, but I am only seeing this one clearly now.

I believe we Reincarnate. "Born again." I also believe this may be the "1000 year reign" for all of us. Maybe we get more than one life to prepare our spirits for the next step that is beyond this ball of dirt, and this flesh suit...?

I wasn't sure where to put this, but this will do, as I believe I have been seeing small glimpses into my future.

I started a journey almost a decade ago now. This was a spiritual journey that has lead me through both the Light and the dark. I had reached a level of synchronicity that I can't even really describe. You'd have to imagine a daily synchronization that only the universe itself could contour together. This was way beyond 11:11 synchronicity. It has gotten to the point that no matter how profound the synced events are I just sort of laugh and acknowledge it with an "I see you" thought.

The last year or so I have been experiencing dreams that seem to be a clear image of a few seconds of time in the future. When I have the dream I am unaware that it's a glimpse into my own future. It just seems like a dream. Within a couple of days I will see the same "glimpse" I saw in the dream playing out in my life. These are short little glimpses that last anywhere from 2 or 3 seconds up to about a minute (it seems), and the events are nothing significant. Nothing bad or even really notable. It's actually quite ordinary every time it's happened. What makes it profound is its happening more and more often, and longer and clearer images. This is way beyond déjà vu. These are dreams that "come true" within a few days at longest.

I have no clue as to why this is going on. It's a peaceful thing. There's no anxieties or weird feelings involved. Like I said, it's all mundane events. But, I am seeing them clearly in my dreams. Small glimpses into my own future.

What happens after we die?

This is the greatest mystery we have in my opinion. It is my greatest curiosity. I am naturally a curios person, and what actually happens once we pass through this life is the curiosity I am most excited to learn. There are so many different stories and beliefs here it is enough to make your head spin. This means we don't truly know.

Trying to picture the afterlife is an impossibility. I have one of the most childlike vivid imaginations I've ever known anyone to have. And yet, I cannot picture "Heaven" or "paradise" in my minds eye. We do not possess the knowledge of anything that "good" and pure. We know too much pain and suffering to be able to fathom what perfection is.

I happen to be someone who knows the scriptures. All of them. I have interviewed and dove deep into the different beliefs about the afterlife, heaven and hell. I know all of the theories surrounding what happens to us once we die. There are so many views within this topic it is impossible to know which is actually true and correct. This intrigues me even further.

With all of these different views and beliefs, and my own passionate curiosity, I am actually looking forward to the day I take that last breath, and when my spirit starts to slip out of this realm and into whatever comes next. I am ready to meet whatever is on the other side. I am ready to face my judgement, if that is what it takes. This thought does not frighten me. It doesn't scare me at all because I have learned love and mercy and compassion. I believe these to be the purpose of this life. To see evil, know the evil, dance with the evil, and then see for myself how this "evil" only destroys. It does not build up anything. It only tears things down. I reject evil. My spirit is clean.

I am Standing on all of this, pondering on what I consider to be "the greatest mystery of the universe" and finding out what happens to us once we pass through this life.

Now, this does not mean I am ready for my life to end. I am here until my time is up. I will make the best of this time and situation. But, I do have this childlike excitement about dying and seeing what comes next. I believe once that happens.......then I will be Truly Free, and that's when Life will truly begin.

This may seem morbid to most. But there is this peace, this joy, and a comfort i feel when I think about what happens next.

I do believe some will go to a paradise and some will go somewhere else. There is a clear division of good and evil.

But, how it actually plays out....no one knows for sure.

This is the ultimate question, and one we won't know until we pass on.

What do you believe happens after we die? Are you excited, scared, terrified or at peace with the thoughts?

Edit: if you would, plz, don't quote us scriptures and all that. Plz Don't preach. Thats not what im lookingfor here. In your own words, describe what you think happens once your spirit passes on. Thanks

-------
I will give my opinionon what will take place step by step as i believei see it.

My lights go out. I see a familiar pure white light. I know this light. It is my (our) Lord. He will greet me with His arms opened. I will finally get to hug my Heavenly Father. I will be at total peace. I am home now.

My family will be there. All smiling, All youthful. They look different, but i know who they are. They are my loved ones who have already passed. Hugs and kisses all around.

I will be introduced the Heavenly hosts. The angels. My new brothers and sisters.

If this is before certain events, then we will wait in paradisefor things to be completed. We will dance and sing and glorify our Father, His Son, our Mother, and the Church (from the boof of shepherd of Hermes).

All the pain is gone. All the hurt. The weight of the world will be gone. I have a new body. A spiritual body. With cool new attributes. One of the first things i will probably choose to do with this new and improved Heavenly body-----is fly...

After that...who knows. Joy and Bliss until this freakshow called the world has run its course.

A new creation after some judgement,
but pretty much just transformedinto the garden of Eden. If im not already there. Its hard to know for sure with what we have, but after 10 years of a Holy Spirit/Word of God guiding me journey, this is what i have come up with.

Thank you, Lord. Holy Holy Holy...

G'day all,

It's 4.52am here. Just saw 'true love' off to work. She gets up at 4.00am. Anyway I got up at midnight, had a smoke, checked the web and went back to bed. Heavy rain outside.

In this dream I was alerted to a mega Tsunami that originated in the northern Pacific up near the Bering Strait close the the North American Continent. The alert came from a ship's distress call and I was in some form of operations room.

Before me was a table about the size of a large dining table. It was illuminated with a map of the world. The map was gridded and showed the ocean in a very pale green and the land masses in a darker olive green.

The path of the Tsunami and predicted paths, rate of travel and direction was indicated in red patterns. The current flow was in singular lines and the predicted flow was broken patterned dots.

Looking at this map I saw the predicted wave patterns striking the main continents all the way south along the Americas and west into Asia. This must have been a large one as the flow entered the Antarctic region, turned, came up the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand, going north. In my dream I was a bit perplexed about this thinking why isn't it striking the continent directly from the east. The wave travelled up the east coast. I looked south the saw the lights travel beneath Australia in the Bight and into the Indian Ocean. It crossed westwards towards Africa.

When the wave struck the south east of that continent it went inland. I looked to the map along the Eastern coast of Aussie which by now was completely lined with red dots.

I yelled out "Have you heard from that ship about how high and fast the wave is travelling!" My wife replied, "What ship?"

She was waking up to go to work and here I was in bed wondering WTF.

So I thought I may put this down while I still have memory and the picture in my head so to speak. I irregularly have dreams likes this. A follow up dream would be nice to see how it ends.

Kind regards,
