Taiwan is the second in the world with highest IQs and they do not add fluoride to water but monitor the natural levels of fluoride in their water.
So there may be something to it. However I have issues with how IQ tests don't include other mental gifts, such as creativity, practical intelligence (how things work), curiosity, etc. Then I think of Albert Einstein and his big curiosity and imagination.
Maybe it is not just IQ. Perhaps the size has a lot to do with it as well as a unified culture, instead of whatever you got throw it in soup.
The US is 26 times bigger than Japan with more than twice the number of residents.
Trying to get that number of people to agree on a lifestyle, a purpose of life, and to work together, is damn near impossible, as we can see when we just look around us.
