Urban Dictionary
Back in my Navy days this was a very common term used to identify a shipmate who got injured and therefore temporarily not able to perform all his duties and would be put on "Gimp" (relaxed) duty. Those that were discovered to be faking an injury would suffer EXTREME punishment by his shipmates.
