Whether that is true or not somebody would need to test it.
It was nothing special, just a circle about 10 feet in diameter.
This was in a field in southwestern Germany. I was able to spot it from a vantage point on a rise above the field.
Okay, the circle was near the edge of the field, so I went to look at it.
First thing I noted is that it was impossible to get to the circle without leaving a path in the high grass around it. My trail was the only one going to the circle, so that, for me, ruled out human or animal action.
The grass was all "swirled" in one direction, IIRC, it was counter-clockwise. All grass inside the circle had been flattened.
My conclusion was that a small cyclone had briefly touched down ("dust devil" type of wind). Though, at some 10 feet in diameter, I would not have wanted to be nearby when that kind of wind kicked up.
I had no technical instruments, so I could not check for magnetic or radioactive signatures. Even so, it was weird enough seeing something like that. The area was fairly populated, so it was hard for me to accept my own notion of a small cyclone unless a brief spat of violent weather kicked up when most were asleep.
