Anyone familiar with Voice id? I know that soon voice and implanted chips are going to be unavoidable, and it seems to be moving forward much faster than I expected.

Got this in the mail and I just don't feel good about it.

Nope, no idea about voice ID. If they're trying to use voice as a biometric identifier, seems to me they'd have a problem with that. Folks' voices change over the course of a day, much more so over the course of a lifetime. Add in colds, flus, laryngitis, and a host of other things that change the voice, and you've got a recipe for disaster if that's what they're trying to do.

The web page didn't work for me. I just got a blank screen that said to enable cookies in my browser to access USAA. Not gonna do it. If USAA had anything important they wanted to say to me, then they'd say it instead of putting up a block screen to force me to do something I ain't gonna do. If they can't just say what they mean and mean what they say, then I got no interest in listening to gibberish that is trying to track me across the internet.

My fingerprints and retinal scans are already on file. If they can't identify me with those, then they don't need to know who I am anyhow.

What's Voice ID and how does it work?
Voice ID is a voice recognition biometric technology that uses your voice to verify your identity when you call USAA. This new feature makes it fast and secure to access your account, reducing the need to ask additional security information such as passwords or one-time codes.

After you sign up for the service, we capture over 100 different physical and behavioral characteristics of your voice based on your conversation with a USAA representative. The data helps us create your “voiceprint,” which is unique just like your fingerprint. Whenever you call USAA, we use the voiceprint to verify your identity.


How do I opt in?
To opt in, go to the Consent page.

If you’ve set up multifactor authentication, or MFA, you can also opt in online by following these steps:

Log on to usaa.com.
Select your initials or photo.
Select “Logon and Security".
If the Voice ID field is available, select “Edit” and follow the prompts to opt in.

Who's eligible to use Voice ID?
You can opt in to use Voice ID unless:

You're under the age of 18.
Your physical address isn't in the United States.
You use a Post Office Box™ to receive mail.

Is Voice ID secure?
Yes. Voice ID creates your voiceprint using characteristics such as pitch, accent and tone. These are unique to you and can't easily be copied. Voice ID can also detect if someone is using a recording of your voice.

Like other biometric identifiers, it's hard to obtain a voiceprint through fraudulent ways, such as social engineering and phishing. Rest easy knowing we take great care in storing an encrypted copy of your voiceprint securely.

Voice prints are reliable and will generally work even if you're ill or have a slight change in your voice. If there's ever a problem authenticating your profile with Voice ID, we'll use existing authentication methods to verify it. I read an article the other day talking about a new phone scam.

You get a call, they say, is this Mrs "so and so." (Here's the scam) if you answer, "this is Mrs so and so" they have this recorded now.

They now use you voice code "this is Mrs so and so" to to voice activate/access your account.


I'm not sure if the words they're looking for are exactly correct as described, but it is a new phone scam to steal that "voice ID."
Basically they are trying to record a certain phrase in your voice to steal you voice ID.
Thought this might help, but not sure if I'm way off here or not.

I think there are a lot of ways they could use Voice ID as a scam.

The easiest way is to make everyone so insecure with every other means of security, that they will line up for the chip.

I use voice Identity for my banking,  months ago I came across the stories of people being scammed with AI to send money to a relative in trouble who turned out to be a scammer .

The bank told me voice recognition is 100 % secure,  must be good software they use as I have tried a few times to flunk it and it still works ? .

My voice is my password is the phrase the bank uses to identify you and it seems a lot more secure than I imagined,  their banking flaw is having a card you tap to a keypad which has a limit of $ 130 per transaction , if you found a card you can go crazy until the money runs out or the card is cancelled

Thanks. I doubt that I we will use it, but I find it interesting that they have advanced to such a level.
