Is Nationalism on the rise?

Seeing some changes on the world stage, from elections swinging toward the "hard right" aka nationalism/country first outcomes to backlash in some areas against the mass unfettered/illegal migration.

Seems nationalism is on the rise, is that a bad thing?

Why shouldn't a countries government and it's citizens put their own first, not solely, but first. Why is this painted as bad? Who paints it that way(globalists, obviously, those that wish to chop up and parcel off a country for their own gain).

I for one, think it's great, every country should put their people and their interests, their culture, their identity FIRST.

The only argument anyone seems to have against this is by attaching a race in front of it and making it sound bad, those usually doing it, have nobodies interest in mind other than their own pocketbook.

Nationalism (taking car of your nations citizens and interests) is the normal.

This push for a One World Government / Organizations of unelected leaders & Marxist influence is NOT the normal.

In this age I'm sure there is some underlying shenanigans in the populist shadows, but I'll take it over all the Marxist/socialism woke crap!

I'm not much for polls, but for whatever it's worth...

Only 36% of voters in a new Wall Street Journal/NORC survey said the American dream still holds true, substantially fewer than the 53% who said so in 2012 and 48% in 2016 in similar surveys of adults by another pollster. When a Wall Street Journal poll last year asked whether people who work hard were likely to get ahead in this country, some 68% said yes—nearly twice the share as in the new poll.

Half of voters in the new poll said that life in America is worse than it was 50 years ago, compared with 30% who said it had gotten better. Asked if they believed that the economic and political system are “stacked against people like me,” half agreed with the statement, while 39% disagreed.

The American dream seemed most remote to young adults and women in the survey. Some 46% of men but only 28% of women said the ideal of advancement for hard work still holds true, as did 48% of voters age 65 or older but only about 28% of those under age 50.

People in both political parties reported a sense of precariousness and disaffection.

I'm not so sure nationalism is so much "on the rise" as it is becoming more strident and vocal, given the accelerating polarization of the planet between collectivist Authoritarians and individualists who just want to be left alone to pursue their own dreams.



Humans are, basically, herd beasts. Tribalism is our default setting. While many people can see the tribalism inherent in nationalism - where the parent nation is the "tribe" - fewer can see the tribalism inherent in collectivist authoritarianism. They fail to grasp the tribalism built-in to a "world community", and cannot fathom that "globalism" is merely a collecting of everyone under a larger tribal territory... and enlarging tribal territory always, invariably, involves conquest.



What the Authoritarian Collectivists are attempting is just a restructuring of tribal borders and tribal memberships to increase their herd at the expense of all the other herds. In short, they are trying to conquer all the other tribes and assimilate them into their own tribe (and therefore under THEIR rule), just as the Roman Empire (and indeed ALL empires) did and do in the real world, and as the Borg attempt in science fiction.



They demonize "The West" or "the elite" or "the privileged" in an attempt to get their members to voluntarily defect to the Authoritarian Tribe(s). They are trying to manufacture a "conquest by consent", but instead of consent thy are gathering up more and more dissent as people balk against subsuming their own tribe into the globalist "Over Tribe" or Uber tribe.



There is good reason for that dissent. people instinctively know, at a gut level, that a more localized political structure is faster and more responsive than one Uber Tribe whose control mechanism is centralized hundreds or even thousands of miles away from that, one which does not know, understand, or even care what conditions they have to endure locally.

This has been the goal of Authoritarianism - whether communist or Borg - ever since the institution of such ideologies. They seek to gather all power to themselves, centrally, and turn all other organisms,including humans, into mere drones of the Centralized State.  We see it happening under our very noses in the US (and if you look closely enough, the rest of the world, too) as we watch the Central Regime in Washington DC make strides forward in wresting power from more localized jurisdictions like states and counties and cities, and gather that power to themselves leaving local, more responsive to their constituent polities in the lurch. Then they can direct and order individual actions from a centralized location - in the case of America, Washington, DC, and in the case of Britain in London... in the case of the EU, Brussels... and if you look elsewhere, you'll find that a shadow war is being fought there, too - wherever you look - to centralize all power in one national location. Once that is accomplished, it's only a matter of time before those local power centers will lose their power to yet another Uber Tribe claiming dominion over the entire planet.

One big happy tribe, in their minds, all controlled from a central power center. Maybe Brussels, maybe Beijing, maybe Moscow or maybe Kuala Lumpur. Who knows?

They do this by cloaking their actual intent in flowery words and concepts. They are not really trying to "erase borders", they are merely trying to enlarge their own territory bay taking YOURS. They are not really trying to "diversify', despite the lip service they pay to "diversity", they are actually trying to take over YOUR life and force you to conform to THEIR control.

People instinctively buck against that sort of system, knowing somewhere in their core that becoming a mere drone of a power structure half a world away cannot, in any sense, be good for themselves, their families, or even their own "tribe" (nation).

That is why we are seeing a rise in Nationalism. It's not really Nationalism per se, it's the drive and instinct of the individual to survive and thrive in spite of someone else trying to take them over in mind, body, and spirit... and nation.

"One Government to Rule Them All" can NEVER be responsive to the needs of the individual, locally and people realize that at a gut level even if they don't consciously recognize it.
