Yeah I don't think the one in New Mexico ever re-opened. First they claimed some kind of chemical thing, then that somebody "watched porn" or whatever- none of which would shut down the observatory long term much less permanently.
There is weird shit going on with the sun. I have plants that are sick and/or dying not from the heat but from UV rays even though they are on a covered patio and only get a couple of hours of direct sunlight per day. Last summer I talked to a pair of nursery owners (the plant kind not baby kind) and they told me about how they had to build a frame system and cover their plants normally grown strictly outside with black gardening mesh to protect them from the UV rays. They went into details about the type of UV rays and how they weren't what was normal and how the Department of Agriculture had been giving them guidance so obviously the federal govt knows.

As an American it's your responsibility to have your own strategic duck stockpile. You can't expect the government to do it for you.
