A 17-year-old German girl named Juliane Koepcke was sucked out of an airplane after it was struck by lightning in 1971. She fell 2 miles to the ground, was strapped to her seat, and survived 10 days in the Amazon Jungle!
...
Quite a tale.
Having seen numerous accounts of individuals surviving the Amazon - I'm sure there are countless more that did not (survive).
I've watched at least three accounts of 'well-funded-&-prepared-expeditions' attempting to reach the source of the Amazon River...with every attempt encountering serious-to-tragic difficulties...
Those that reached 'the source' turned around (to go home) as soon as they 'rang the bell'...rather than looking for what they had hoped to find...
Anyway - glad Juliane' survived to tell her tale.
The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.
