I had promised myself I was going to stay out of threads about abuse. Mainly because I have to be extremely careful about what I share. I still have a lot of cases that have not gone to court yet, and you would be surprised at what the defense attorneys can come up with to use against you in an attempt to raise reasonable doubt.
All I feel safe in saying is that, the majority of the people never think anything through. We have been conditioned to be reactionary, not to think.
Anyone one that uses drugs where children are housed is exposing children to the drug and placing children in a position that can be determined to be abusive.
If a person is on drugs they cannot supervise or provide care to a child, for the hours or days they are drunk or high. More importantly, they cannot protect the child from themselves or others.
The younger the child the more likely they will affected by the drugs being used in the environment where they are housed.
The number of substance abuser that have children or are around children, is mind blowing. Too many to be a priority. There is no perfect solution. We have seen that the States are overwhelmed with the number of children that need healthy, loving, caring, homes, and support.
The children are the ones that always suffer. Taking a child from an unhealthy living environment and placing them into a rotating unhealthy environment with strangers, is not going to do much for the child.
So what do we do?
We keep throwing bandaids onto a wound that is hemorrhaging. A wound that just keeps getting bigger, as life spills from us, making every second count.
We are really lousy stewards of this planet. We continue to fail the planet, the children, and ourselves. Mostly because too many of us are waiting for someone else to do the hard stuff.
But we posted about it, so we can say we helped, or at least tried.
Sorry. Feeling tired, and experiencing a bit of ennui with life this morning.
