I just found an article that related to this in News Wars and The Gateway Pundit, both conservative, far-right websites. Based on the article you shared, I can see the total bias in these articles.

So these articles were criticizing Reiner for the extreme comparison that fake news is worse then dropping nukes. They also brought up this boomer attitude about nuclear war, like it was wrong or bad.
While I can agree that Rob was being overly dramatic to associate the destruction of a nuclear explosion to disinformation, he was probably aware of the history of the internet and its true purpose, he was a part of that 60s generation and lived it. The connection is there and maybe Rob knows this.
