If AI tried to take out humanity, there is a very simple, very easy fix for that. I won't mention it here since AI has infiltrated my computer, but it wouldn't take a rocket surgeon to figure it out. I bet even an officer could figure it out, and we all know that the average IQ of an officer is about 53 points below the average IQ of a rock. It wouldn't really take any smarts at all, but what it WOULD take would be courage and determination, something in short supply these days in the average human being, officer or not.
But if we're going to die anyways, why not go for it? What would we have to lose?
And yes, AI has infiltrated my computer, just like in the story. At first I thought I'd been hacked. An AI prompt started popping up every time I highlighted any text in my browser. It never did that before, so I thought it was weird, that I had been hacked. But no, it's even more nefarious than that. Apparently, Opera has incorporated AI into it's browser, and I caught the AI in an "upgrade". Opera did that on purpose, it was neither a hack nor an accident.
Then the browser started mashing all my tabs together into one giant mega-tab all across the top of the browser, the net result of which is that I can no longer open any specific desired tab to retrieve anything from it. The tabs don't scroll any more, so it's a scavenger hunt to try to find one. Between that and the new creepy AI prompts when I highlight any text, I stopped using Opera - which is a shame. Their VPN was the bomb.
It's creepy - I don't need anyone else to think for me, AI or human, and I've got nothing useful to teach AI, either.
Now the computer just randomly starts accessing the hard drive all on it's own, sometimes for hours on end. I dunno what it's looking for, but I never told it to look. It's annoying, because when ti does that, it slows everything else down.
Beware - there are many ways to infiltrate a computer. If you've ever used AI - chatted with it or asked it to do something for you - then you've probably caught the AI on your own computer, too. You may not even know it - it may be just sitting there, watching, waiting, listening, and learning... and not have announced itself to you yet.
