Technology is a double-edged sword. it can make life easier, but it can also run it right off the rails into impossibility... and it tends, in the electronic age, to give other folks way too much control over your own life.
All it takes is one little burp from the sun, or one pissed off terrorist to create a high-altitude explosion, and POOF! all of your money - and everything else that is electricity-dependent - just vanishes. I'm just not onboard with that.
