June 22, 1941: Three million German troops invaded Russia, launching Operation Barbarossa. Mobile killing units began the mass murder of Soviet Jews. German military policies led to the deaths of millions of Soviet POWs and civilians. It was the largest land offensive in human history, with over 10 million combatants taking part lasting 6 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. The operation, code-named after Frederick Barbarossa ("red beard"), a 12th-century Holy Roman emperor and German king, put into action Nazi Germany's ideological goal of conquering the western Soviet Union to repopulate it with Germans.





The German map is to be expected. You show a German a map of the Ukraine, and they have flashbacks to Operation Barbarossa and start fantasizing about how to invade it. LOL.
This is why Putin's codename in German is "Einkesselungmeister" (containment master).


June 22, 1942: The Pledge of Allegiance is formally adopted by US Congress.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

12 years later "under God" was added on June 14, 1954 by Pres Eisenhower.

Removal of the Bellamy salute occurred on December 22, 1942, when Congress amended the Flag Code language first passed into law on June 22, 1942.



What event happened between the time that the top (2) photograph's was taken and the bottom one? Are you sure that you were told the truth about the "facts" surrounding that event? How do you know? What would it be like if that event turned out differently?


June 22, 1973: Richard Nixon and Leonid Brezhnev signed the Agreement on the Prevention of Nuclear War, committing to "refrain from the threat or use of force" against each other, allies, and other states "in circumstances which may endanger international peace and security."

Nixon recorded the scene in his Memoirs:

    He got behind the wheel and motioned me into the passenger seat. The head of my Secret Service detail went pale as I climbed in and we took off down one of the narrow roads that run around the perimeter of Camp David….

    At one point there is a very steep slope with a sign at the top reading, ‘Slow, dangerous curve’….

    Brezhnev was driving more than 50 miles an hour as we approached the slope. I reached over and said, ‘Slow down, slow down,’ but he paid no attention. When we reached the bottom there was a squeal of rubber as he slammed on the breaks and made the turn….

    ‘You are an excellent driver,’ I replied. ‘I would never have been able to make that turn at the speed at which we were traveling.’

    Diplomacy is not always an easy art.
