Gotta wonder how something like that would play out these days
Cheers
Never heard of the Tailhook Scandal so I thought I'd read up on it. Checked out Wiki. Big read. Seems an officer from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) was tangled up in this episode. Later committed suicide. Was never reported here (in Straya) to my knowledge.
Some high ranking naval officers involved and shenanigans went on to say the least. The tale of the 'Gauntlet' in itself would make an X rated movie. Some big payouts to the victims in those days. Meager fines, admonishments and demotions to many of the perpetrators.
Cheers for pointing it out. Bit of history.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but not that time! Of all the cities so weird it got so much attention for Sin City. I was in the Navy when that went down. Shortly afterward the whole crew had to take mandatory sexual harassment courses. I was in SE Asia at the time and for us it was quickly forgotten and onward to the next port of call.
Never had sexual harassment courses when I did my navy time. But of course it was all blokes underway at the time. Moving on, the courses were par for the LEO positions I later took up. Think I fell asleep during the presentations as I just wanted a job and couldn't care less who I worked for as long as they had the measure to do the job and back me or visa versa.
But reading into the account of "Tailhook" I wonder 'What were they thinking?' Being a lower deck rating in my navy years I never assumed that crap happened in the upper decks. Reading as I did I now know, well, we're all the same. I got up to mischievous things when I was a rating. Hawaii was no exception.
