Absolutely. The connections are clear. The Pope expended a fair amount of good faith his flock had extended to him just on the basis of his position. And all to please the Chicago (a Democratic Party murder capital, maybe the Pope should mention that ?) political mafia.
Trump will survive this as will the Pope. But one expects Trump to be blunt and outspoken. The Pope, OTOH, is expected to be quite a bit more circumspect in his commentary on secular matters.
In the local church, I've already noticed the clergy is not reading everything flowing down from the Vatican. That's not exactly a vote of confidence.
