That little girl being taken up at the end of the series is Dakota Fanning. This child had come from a line of people being taken and bred with others taken. The beginning of it was an alien male come down flipping to a human form on a farm, fell in love with a human woman and they had a son (with special abilities) etc.
Government gets into it, the breeding continues.
