How long can the Gulf states survive if the Strait of Hormuz stays closed?
JP Morgan analysis: If Hormuz stays shut, storage runs out in:

Iraq: 6 days
Kuwait: 14 days
UAE: 16-19 days
Qatar: 20 days
Saudi Arabia: 36-65 days (depending on re-routing)



Kuwait just announced they're cutting oil production and refining "citing risks linked to Iran and threats to shipping through Hormuz."

In other words: We can't export, so we're stopping production before storage fills completely and we have nowhere to put it.

Saudi Arabia can last longest because they've got pipelines bypassing the Strait. UAE and Saudi can partially re-route. Everyone else is trapped.

The global oil market's watching this in real-time. Every day Hormuz stays closed, more producers hit capacity limits and cut output.

European gas already spiked 22%. Gold hit $5500. Iraq reduced oil output and now Kuwait is reducing production because of storage constraints.

Iran has attacked merchant ships in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. The US expanded the war zone to the Indian Ocean by sinking the frigate INS Dena. US-Israel are bombing Iranian oil refineries. Will the US Navy start seizing Iranian oil tankers next?
