Hand planes ? What kind ? Japanese or maybe some old Stanleys ? { I have both }
Dadoes or biscuits in the table top ?
What glue do you use ? Titebond ?
Not a big hand tool user so no cool planes. Just some cheap stuff that works good enough although I would like a better smoothing/flattening plane bigger than the #4 I have. I do have an electric hand planer too but need to practice with it more before using it on something improtant. Distressed & rustic farmhouse style is my gig so fancy fine furniture isn't really my thing.
Table top? Dowels for the win because this was fairly small however I did use biscuits on this top glue-up
Titebond? Well of course, darling, by the gallon!
I was/am in the middle of another build that I put aside to make this record shelf and am glad to be back working on it after remembering where I left off.

My turntable is a Project 5.1 with silicon bath damping and suspension. I'd like to build my own turntable one day. I also built my own interconnects from 99.999% pure silver 0.5mm wires. Fantastic pure sound and a fun thing to do.
Very cool and thanks for your comments.
nerb Wrote:ps.. Please check your turntable though, it is visually not level and can be seen if looking at it's feet in the picture. This will cause bad tracking. Just thought I'd point that out. If the floor is unlevel that's why we can see the difference in turntable foot height so ignore my observation.
Also, I hope that is a remote control sitting on the speaker and not a mobile phone because strong magnets and mobiles are not friends.
Looks can be deceiving! It is the rack that's less than level and I will get that sorted out one of these days. The turntable itself, according to the bubble level in the weight on the acrylic platter mat and an additional check with a torpedo level says it's good. I've set the weight of the tonaarm/cartridge with a digital scale for that purpose and adjusted the tracking force to match and it all seems to be good.
Sitting on the speaker is a folding LED lamp with adjustable settings. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1KHCHZP?ref...title&th=1

And you did.
I have a brand new, still in the box record player I received several years ago, but had no speakers nor the mental capacity to set up a system.
So I bought a cheap record player all in one from amazon. Works ok. My friend gave me her record collection.
I just love listening to records.
Thank you columbia house. LOL
And thank you, Chiefmom, for your kind comments! Enjoy your musid!
