That's a lovely story, but unfortunately, that's all it is - a story. Complete bullshit. The objections AJ specifies at the end of the video are suspicious, but not deal breakers. The deal breaker is one simple false claim - the claim that "Rachel" was from Zeta Reticuli. That is a touch-stone. You can be certain that any story claiming aliens are from Zata Reticuli is complete and utter bullshit. Entirely made up, and either being sold as snake-oil, OR part of an implanted false memory.
"Aliens" are not from Zeta Reticuli. Aside from the fact that it's an impossibility, I know where that story came from, and have debunked it.
The sory stems from the September 1961 Barney and Betty Hill abduction case. During that abduction, Betty was allegedly shown a star map, which she reproduced under hypnosis. 8 years later, in 1969, Marjorie Fish claimed to have identified the stars in the star map, and misidentified the "home" star as Zeta Reticuli. A bullshit machine was born.
In a plethora of snake oil cases since then, and sprad all across the internet, claims are made that "then thar litte green fellas done up and TOLE me they wuz from Zeta Reticuli!", and that claim is utter, complete, and total bullshit, based upon faulty research.
Ms. Fish used the Gleise Catalog of Nearby Stars,2nd Edition, to create 3D models of stars. which she looked at from different angles until she settled on ZetRet as the alleged home star.
The case intrigued me for years, and in 1991 - 22 years later, 22 years of advancements - I obtained an advance copy of the CNS3... Catalog of Nearby Stars, 3rd Edition, Gleise and Jahreiss.. from them while I was studying astyrophysics at university. I took that catalog and wrote a program in FORTRAN to process all 3803 records in that database to convert their coordinates to 3 dimensional X,Y,Z coordinates in the Galactic coordinate System.
Armed with those revised and refined coordinates, I constructed 3D computer models, and viewed the stars from various angles, and satisfied myself that the view was not from the direction of ZetRet. One can do the same thing nowadays with off the shelf software, notably the free "Celestia" program.
Oddly, perhaps, I did find a potential match, but not from ZetRet. The much closer match I found was fro the direction of Beta Comae Berenieces. I won't say that is definitely the origin, but I will say it's a damned sight closer than ZetRet. One has only to download Celestia in the modern day and age to confirm that for his or her self.
If you erase the lines from the Fish interpretation and from Betty's original starmap, you can clearly see that the stars left on the maps do not match at all - the lines themselves are "leading the eye" into a false correlation that is not actually there..
The crucial error Ms. Fish made was the assumption that the two largest bodies in the foreground of the starmap were components of a double star. That caused her to throw out single stars and concentrate on doubles. However, it is emphatically NOT a double star. The original map as drawn by Betty Hill shows both of those bodies to have a crescent - something that self luminous bodies like stars do not do. They are, in reality, planets, probably a double planet or planet and very large moon, such as Earth has, but probably bigger, closer in size to the primary planet. If one looks critically, one can clearly see that the crescents are illuminated by a star in the center of the map, one that is larger than the rest of the star field and i believe THAT star to be the "home" star.
With that said, I don't believe Betty was lying. I believe they were abducted, but not by "aliens" in the classic sense. The distances to both ZetRet and BetCom are prohibitive for travel in a single lifetime. I believe the "aliens" were lying to Betty, and trying to cover tracks by throwing suspicion elsewhere than their actual origin.
I am as certain as certain can be that the "aliens" are not from Zeta Retifuli, and furthermore, any time anyone makes that claim, they are either selling snake oil, OR expositing on an implanted false memory geared to take advantage of the Fish mistake that has been spread far and wide.
