November 26, 1864: Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (pen name Lewis Carroll), presented Alice Liddell with the story of Alice's Adventures Under Ground that she had inspired with illustrations by Carroll, dedicating it as "A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day". The published version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is about twice the length of Alice's Adventures Under Ground and includes episodes, such as the Mad Hatter's Tea-Party that do not appear in the manuscript.


According to Alice, the only known manuscript copy of Under Ground is held in the British Library.

Sen Tower along with his 2nd daughter died in a suspicious plane crash on April 5, 1991 and Robert Maxwell died 215 days later in a suspicious drowning Nov 5, 1991.


Nov 26, 1996: After a failed experiment to valet park airplanes at The Sands, the hotel that ushered Las Vegas into its brilliantly lit future, was imploded to make way for the Venetian. Con Air scenes were filmed at the legendary Sands Hotel immediately prior to its demolition.



The U.S. Marshals, who run the actual Con Air program, wanted nothing to do with this movie. During press for this film, John Malkovich (Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom) was asked why he did this film. He gave a simple one word answer... "Money."

The film is dedicated to Phil Swartz, an effects specialist who died during filming, when a rigged plane fell and crushed him. This is actually the second Jerry Bruckheimer production where there was a plane related death on set. Eleven years earlier, Art Scholl, a pilot/cameraman, died during filming of Top Gun (1986) when his camera plane failed to recover from a spin and plunged into the Pacific Ocean.

Screenwriter Scott Rosenberg spent three days on a real Con Air plane with real convicts and flew all over the country.

If you're wondering what happened to Con Air plane used for in-flight scenes in the movie, it crashed into Mount Healy, in Denali National Park, killing all three flight crew on Aug 1, 2010. The Jailbird C-123 used during the filming of the taxi scenes is now on display at Wendover Airfield which was also used to film the scenes of Lerner Airfield.


This could be true (likely given what I've seen) or just another frustrated American REAL woman...
