Stories like this always makes me glad I tried out dog food as a kid. Today I know immediately if what I'm eating isn't beef, it really comes down to the feed, what the animals eat it imparts a taste.
Reading the labels on the packages isn't a bad idea, I often find packages just marked as "meat" in the beef isle. Reminds me, what is with fruit these days? The shelves where stocked with 'citrus' over winter, and just marked as that. I didn't know if was nartjies or oranges so I didn't buy any.
