A paper defining the "Loeb Scale" can be found here .
I've not read the whole thing yet, but the first thing that strikes me is right up front - why is the lead investigator listed at the top of the paper (Omer Eldadi) from an Israeli school of PSYCHOLOGY? What does psychology have to do with astronomy... unless... there is a psychological operation in play?
I think I am uniquely qualified to express that reservation, as I went to university for physics with a concentration in astronomy, and at the same time my first wife was going to the same university to get her PhD in psychology. I am acutely aware of the vast differences between those two "sciences". I put that in quotes because I've never considered psychology to be a science. From what I know of it, which is more than is known by the average bear (from having assisted my first wife in her studies of it), it's more of an art. It's the Art of Manipulation, for the most part.
Things that make you go "hmmmm..."
ETA: I also found this to be of interest:
What university professor uses Gmail for his professional correspondence? Most, if not all, universities have their own email addresses, and don't rely on extrernal emails like Gmail.
