Remember, remember...Today is Guy Fawkes Day which is traditionally celebrated in the UK with fireworks and bonfires. In 2018, a Wildcat from HMS Diamond put on a spectacular display by using the occasion to test the helicopter's anti-heat-seeking missile flares in the Mediterranean.

The jury returned the largest civil verdict in Oregon history at the time—$12.5 million against Metzger and WAR. The Metzgers' house was seized, and most of WAR's profits go to paying off the judgment. Not too bright as Metzger represented himself during the trial which the judge was African American.

In May 1991, Metzger had to agree to stop selling T-shirts of Bart Simpson in a Nazi uniform with the words "Pure Nazi Dude" and "Total Nazi Dude". He was convicted in 1991 of burning a cross in 1983, and sentenced to six months in prison and 300 hours community service working with minorities. He was released from prison 46 days into his sentence to be with his critically ill wife. In 1992, Metzger and his son violated a court order not to leave the country and entered Canada to speak to the Heritage Front (was a Canadian neo-Nazi supremacist organization). Soon afterwards, he was arrested for violating Canadian immigration laws by entering the country to "promote racial hatred".
In 2003, Metzger appeared in a British documentary by Louis Theroux, titled "Louis and the Nazis". During this documentary which received positive reviews, Theroux criticized Metzger for his use of racist language and also for his evidently hypocritical behaviour. Louis travels to California to meet the man dubbed "the most dangerous racist in America", Tom Metzger. Louis meets him, his family and his publicity manager as well as following him to skinhead rallies and on a visit to Mexico. He also encounters the Nazi-pop folk duo Prussian Blue (an American white-nationalist preteen musical sibling duo) and their mother and maternal grandfather. Louis Theroux would revisit the subjects of the documentary in his book The Call of the Weird: Travels in American Subcultures.
Quote lines from the docu:
Louis Theroux: [looking at a racist cartoon] What have we got there?
Tom Metzger: Well, this is a typical white whore and a black guy.
Louis Theroux: What is the problem with a white woman going out with a black man?
Tom Metzger: Most black men are ugly, number one.
Louis Theroux: You think you're better looking than, uh, Denzel Washington?
Tom Metzger: Yeah.
Louis Theroux: Do you really?
Tom Metzger: Oh, yeah.
Louis Theroux: What if that was put to a vote and you were outvoted?
Tom Metzger: And if I had the money and the power, you know, making movies, I'd get 10 times more women than him.
Louis Theroux: Do you really believe that? That seems delusional.
Tom Metzger: Well, I believe it. I don't know whether it's delusional or not. Denzel Washington's in there because they have to do that, they have to.
Metzger died on November 4, 2020, at age 82 of Parkinson's disease in Hemet, California.

Quote:According to Stephen Atkins, author of The Encyclopedia of Right-Wing Extremism in Modern American History (2011), Metzger's ideology "differs from other white supremacists by rejecting the basic tenets of the Christian Identity movement because he considers himself to be the champion of the Third Position. The Third Position is a form of racism that is oriented towards attracting the white working class and it is also anti-capitalist in orientation. Metzger believed that the United States should be divided into designated areas for different racial groups except Asian Americans, who should be expelled from the United States." In 1988, Metzger recorded this message on his WAR Hotline:
"You have reached WAR Hotline. White Aryan Resistance. You ask: What is WAR? We are an openly white-racist movement—Skinheads, we welcome you into our ranks. The federal government is the number one enemy of our race. When was the last time you heard a politician speaking out in favor of white people? [...] You say the government is too big; we can’t organize. Well, by God, the SS did it in Germany, and if they did it in Germany in the thirties, we can do it right here in the streets of America. We need to cleanse this nation of all nonwhite mud-races for the survival of our own people and the generations of our children."
