Today I feel that is not the whole truth, it's the lifestyle, the way the system functions. There can be abundance. When each life is treated as sacred and everything is elevated birth rates would be controlled. The survival toil with no predators but ourselves is what drives overpopulation. Consume, consume, consume
Or is it densification, and not living in small communities. We become detached and siloed into functions pushed towards artificial efficiency to support the system and rewarded for it or punished when you can't afford healthcare. We don't live with aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters. No wise elders around the fire place. It's all business and escapism from miserable lives. Artificial stimulants transmitted on the monoliths made with screens, sex, drama, action, love and life. Experiences we no longer have broadcasted while medicated from everything ingested. Alchemy corrupted, sugar and salts, artificial compounds not produced for supporting a natural ecosystem. Completely sterile.
Where are the folktales, what fills us with wonder each night? The stars are no longer visible. The spectacle of dawn and dusk is lost. Tall building obstructs the view, the animals all long gone. No daily mass migrations to witness. Birds no longer bringing messages from the gods, or they still do, perhaps they still do. Seagulls fighting over scraps attacking everything squawking loudly. Pigeons kicking ***ing and peckingm unable to distinguish trash from food. Gizzards filled with coins and rusting nails.
I like your point of view. Mother nature is a bitch. Life depends on death, becomes stronger with pain and suffering, and all that matters is the selfish gene that drives us to reproduce and do it all again with another generation.
The only natural language is violence and pain and the activities of the mating season. Every living thing destroys and lives because of the death of other living things. Life consumes life to struggle, live in pain, reproduce and die.
Humans pretend and try to rationalize away the hellish existence of life, but we always make everything about us. We are still driven by the selfish gene that must continue on at the expense of the entire creation. It won't end after our deaths either. The prime material plane is the engine powering the higher planes, and so the process continues with higher forms consuming the energy of our death throws. We are the food of the gods near the bottom of the spiritual food chain.
Things are the way they are and no high minded ideas and elaborate stories will change what we are in all this. We are the intended results of evolution and we are just as natural in what we do as any plant or animal we live with. Nature only cares if we succeed and doesn't care if we go extinct because there are other life forms that will come along and be more successful at carrying the torch of life forward. Each biological failure is an opportunity for other life forms. Microbes will likely prove to be superior to our swollen craniums when we get to the ultimate finish line. Intelligence isn't really a survival trait when it gets to where we have landed.
A trail goes two ways and looks different in each direction - There is no such thing as a timid woodland creature - Whatever does not kill you leaves you a survivor - Jesus is NOT a bad word - MSB
