Today I feel that is not the whole truth, it's the lifestyle, the way the system functions. There can be abundance. When each life is treated as sacred and everything is elevated birth rates would be controlled. The survival toil with no predators but ourselves is what drives overpopulation. Consume, consume, consume
Or is it densification, and not living in small communities. We become detached and siloed into functions pushed towards artificial efficiency to support the system and rewarded for it or punished when you can't afford healthcare. We don't live with aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters. No wise elders around the fire place. It's all business and escapism from miserable lives. Artificial stimulants transmitted on the monoliths made with screens, sex, drama, action, love and life. Experiences we no longer have broadcasted while medicated from everything ingested. Alchemy corrupted, sugar and salts, artificial compounds not produced for supporting a natural ecosystem. Completely sterile.
Where are the folktales, what fills us with wonder each night? The stars are no longer visible. The spectacle of dawn and dusk is lost. Tall building obstructs the view, the animals all long gone. No daily mass migrations to witness. Birds no longer bringing messages from the gods, or they still do, perhaps they still do. Seagulls fighting over scraps attacking everything squawking loudly. Pigeons kicking ***ing and peckingm unable to distinguish trash from food. Gizzards filled with coins and rusting nails.
