Migrant in asylum hotel 'made violent threats before stabbing six in mass knife attack'

'An asylum seeker made violent threats before stabbing six people in a sick rampage, a hearing has
been told. Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh launched the horrifying attack at the Park Inn, Glasgow in
June 2020 before being shot and killed by police. The hotel was understood to be housing around
100 asylum seekers, but a previous hearing revealed that the police were not aware of this.

Bosh injured three fellow asylum seekers, two hotel workers, and a police officer. The Crown Office
later said the decision to shoot the 28-year-old was "absolutely necessary", despite questions from
Bosh's family, as they'd already tried non lethal weapons to disarm him.

Sheriff principal Aisha Anwar and Police Scotland Federation's advocate Shelagh McCall KC discussed
the transcripts from the incident at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week. Ms Anwar questioned "There were
threats of stabbing 24 hours prior to the incident?" To which Ms McCall replied, "Yes".

This was the third preliminary hearing before the full Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI), though a date has not
yet been set for this. The FAI will examine the circumstances of Bosh's death without assigning blame
or fault.

A report from witness Amanda Trimble included the systems that were in place and which risk assessments
should have been carried out, Ms McCall added. Hers is one of 700 witness statements that have been lodged.

The Sudanese national first arrived in Ireland after his uncle was shot dead back home, before coming
to the UK. He was moved from a flat to the Park Inn at the beginning of the Covid pandemic, telling
family he was struggling to adapt to life in the hotel. He reached out to the Home Office and other
organisations over 70 times over concerns for his health and accommodation before the mass stabbing...'
