Not to mention there is "something" that drops in the field before the shock wave erupts.
I saw an unexplained circle in high grass once in Germany. I attributed it to a small cyclone touching down, but who knows (another one of those circles with no paths leading to it in the surrounding grass).
As to the speculation that something is attempting to communicate, I'm unconvinced. People come across dog turds in grass but it doesn't mean the dog was trying to communicate with us
