JFK's speech on July 25, 1961 set off a nationwide fallout shelter frenzy on steroids. Heated debates ensued on the morality of turning away or even shooting neighbors trying to enter a family shelter in an emergency. Article in TIME from August 18, 1961 titled, "Gun Thy Neighbor?"


"When I get my shelter finished, I'm going to mount a machine gun at the hatch to keep the neighbors out of the bomb falls." ... "Relations between Los Angeles and Las Vegas are still recovering from a flap over a speech by Las Vegas Civil Defense Leader J. Carlton Adair, who proposed a 5,000-man militia against the possibility of wartime refugees from Calif pouring into Nevada like a swarm of locusts."

August 18, 1969: Mick Jagger accidentally shot himself while filming "Ned Kelly." The bullet in question struck his hand and it was a blank that had backfired. Mick wrote the song "Brown Sugar" while filming this movie.

Frank Thring (Judge Barry) was the grandson of Maximilian Kreitmayer, a waxwork proprietor who earned notoriety for making the death masks of executed prisoners. Kreitmayer's most famous death mask was that of Ned Kelly.

The opening scenes were filmed in the Old Melbourne Gaol, where Kelly was imprisoned, and on the scaffold from which Kelly was hanged. The gaol (jail) at 377 Russell Street, Melbourne, is now a tourist attraction.

In April 1976, prior to the institution of this suit, Good Humor pleaded guilty to certain misdemeanor charges involving maintaining "false business records." All charges relating to the production and marketing of contaminated products were dismissed by the court.
