Ferragosto is a public holiday celebrated on 15 August in the whole of Italy. It originates from Feriae Augusti, the festival of Emperor Augustus, who made  August 1st a day of rest after weeks of hard work on the agricultural sector.

R.I.P. Henry Polichetti who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday at the age of 110 - supercentenarian!! Damn fine Italian genes! Polichetti enlisted in the U.S. Navy the week after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served as an instructor for radio operators. He was the oldest known living American WWII veteran.
