Woke police more interested in arresting innocent British people for doing nothing rather wrong than arresting actual criminals , the preacher was later released with no action taken against him although action should be taken against the idiots who made the arrest for wasting police resources IMHO.
Oddly, and I don't know if the British public realizes this, but that officer appears to be enforcing shari'a law rather than British law. The Christian's actions are illegal under most schools of Islamic law, but as far as British law goes, how in the hell do you arrest someone for NOT committing a crime - i.e. a NON-CRIME "hate incident"? My law enforcement training was heavily weighted by the Common Law, and under common law one cannot be arrested for not being a criminal.
I have been arrested a few times, and I've always been peaceful about it, never gave the officers any trouble. However, none have ever tried to arrest me for no reason. Sometimes I had it coming to me, so went along peacefully, and sometimes I didn't have it coming to me, but the officer had a reason to be suspicious and arrest me, so again I went along peacefully, intending to sort it out at my earliest opportunity within the legal structure.
One time I was arrested, I thanked the officer for arresting me, and he was speechless. I then explained that he was doing his job, and if I were insted getting hell pounded out of me and he stopped the beating, he would also be doing his job. Either way, he was doing his job, and I was thanking him for that.
He actually spoke up for me in court, and got me off the hook.
However, if an officer ever tried to arrest me for NOT committing a crime, and had no suspicion that any crime had even been committed by anyone, You can bet your entire ass that there would be trouble on the spot - and that officer would have already bet his entire ass in the matter, and it would be high time for him to pay up. I would promptly give them a reason to make an arrest with a thoroughly violent assault.
But then the cops here know me. They know how I am, and some of my training. I went to the Academy with some of the older ones, although most of those have now retired. They also know that I know enough that If I balk, I have a good legal reason for it, and will win in court, so they don't bother with harassing me for piddlin' stuff.
Maybe British police should get more in touch with the communities they police.
