Are we looking at a future where warfare becomes automated, robots hunting and killing robots without any human involvement on the ground or in the air? What does warfare become when there is no longer any danger to humans, which has traditionally been the dis-incentive against war?.
As I often say, "war" is now becoming a game of who can break more of the other guy's stuff, more so than it is about killing the other guy's soldiers. Of all the trends in warfare, this particular development doesn't really seem to have a down side.
In the end, people will realize war is more a game of $$$ than it is about killing. And when this happens, then maybe war can be eliminated altogether and it becomes two opponents simply comparing checkbook balances right up front and saving everyone the grief, bloodshed and heartbreak.
