June 8, 1981: Summer of Toughlove movement to bring out-of-control youngsters into line. Followed by a TV movie in 1985 with Jason Patric's acting debut as a rebel teen who went on to do "The Lost Boys" (1987). Toughlove spun off many related teen help organizations, some good, some bad, and some turned into cults which became a Troubled teen industry in the USA with many scandals (involving politicians of course) due to child abuse, institutional corruption, and deaths. The general public got an early glimpse back in the 1971 film THX 1138, but were oblivious to it all. (Many of the young baldies were actual cult members)

April 29, 1992: RAGE, RAGE - Riots broke out in Los Angeles and continued for 3 days after the surprising acquittal of the police officers charged with using excessive force and beating Rodney King to a bloody pulp. During the riots, 63 people were killed and hundreds of buildings were fire-bombed, destroyed, and of course looted. President George HW Bush dispatched 3,000–4,000 army troops and Marines, along with 1,000 riot-trained federal law officers, to help restore order.
