KSHE 95 Rock DJ John Ulett after his nuclear attack gag in 1991.
![[Image: bBQZx3b.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/bBQZx3b.jpg)
On January 29, 1991, John Ulett, a DJ at KSHE in St. Louis, surprised listeners with a vintage recording of a fake nuclear attack. At the time, a coalition of countries was poised to go to war with Iraq. Although Ulett's intention was to educate those who constantly called him suggesting to "Nuke the bastards," in Iraq, the result was panicked and angry listeners. Ulett survived the fallout with a suspension and currently has been at KSHE for almost 40 years.
Have a listen:
June 7, 1991: "Delusion," with Jim Metzler and Jennifer Rubin, was released in the US. Much of it filmed in and around Rhyolite and Amargosa Valley, NV and the gas station scene was filmed in Crystal, Nevada.
Plot: A man who has just embezzled money from his company is driving through the Nevada desert. He picks up a pretty girl and her seemingly goofy boyfriend. The girl is a Las Vegas showgirl and the boyfriend turns out to be a professional killer, and he has no intention of letting the motorist finish the trip. A low-budget indie that's clearly an attempt to cash in on the neo-noir revival of the early 90s. Nice scenic shots in the Death Valley area.

Some of the SEALs in this movie were played by real Navy SEALs.
Everyone would be a lot happier if they would just listen to Mulder.

It's pronounced uhb-STROOS and comes from Latin "abstrūsus," meaning hidden. Examples include: "The lecture was so abstruse, students left confused." It's formal, used in academic contexts, with synonyms like obscure or esoteric and antonyms like clear or simple. Whether something is abstruse can depend on one's knowledge—what's complex to one may be clear to another.

Quote:Unfortunately for Remling, his thirty hours of freedom resulted in an extra ten years added to his 7-10 year sentence for writing fraudulent checks and stealing hogs. With the confirmed charge of ‘air piracy,’ Remling had earned another decade onto his incarceration.
Dale Remling’s charismatic clamoring continued during his extended sentence at the Marion, Illinois Penitentiary. He had become the editor for the prison newsletter. Dale had pitched on their softball team. He even joined the prison’s country band, “The Tear Drops.”
Dale consistently corresponded with his imprisoned accomplices, his lawyer, James D. Adams, as well as reporters. Many letters condemned the prison system and pushed for reform.
Dale Otto Remling was released on September 13, 1993. He had moved to Bakersfield, California, north of Los Angels, where he lived until his passing at 71 years old in July 1999. His family laid his ashes to rest under a rock painted marked with his initials in the mountains where he could be free.
