Speaking of the 21st century. Spain will again fall without a fight. The Spanish are too busy pissing and moaning at each other about their civil war 90 years ago to realize they are on the verge of losing control of their country to outsiders.
France ... kind of doubt they have more Charles Martels. Their confidence took a heavy hit at Waterloo and Germany finished that job at Verdun. Everything since then been the plugging of fingers into the dike ... and they've run out of fingers. Doesn't help when ten per cent of their army is dedicated, permanently, to internal security duties within France itself.
