There were only 3 things on that list I don't remember, although I was in at the end of several others:
1. Government Cheese - I remember "Generic" cheese (and generic everything else, like beer Mac & cheese, etc.) back in the late 70's, but that was really just a reincarnation of the original government foods program. So, I didn't live through the government food era. And to this day, I can still remember the taste of that "American Cheese" (yuck!). Fortunately, for me, my Mom had lived through the government food era and she'd hated it, so we didn't have to eat too much of the generic stuff. However, cheese wasn't one of these. Mom bought that nasty American (yellow and white) cheese like it was going outta' style.
2. Car hops at the Drive-In movies - I remember Drive-In movies, and yes, we'd pile guys in the trunk to sneak in on a Friday night. I remember the concessions, and the window trays. I even remember the little intercom, but all that did was let you place your order so when you walked over to the concession your order STILL wasn't ready! LOL!
3. Little Golden Books - I don't really remember any books being called that, although the picture looked vaguely familiar. The first books I remember were the Dick, Jane and Spot the dog books. I also remember something many people look at me puzzled for. We used to have 16mm movies about a kid named "Mr. Bungle". They were movies aimed at etiquette, hygiene and other social 'norms' of the day.
