Baltimore is a rough town. Just watch The Wire
Mentally he'll carry those scars for life though. PTSD, low-self esteem, super viligance, distrust in people (especially blacks), he'll retreat inwards, and he'll go through dark days. I wouldn't be surprised if he suicides in the future.
Remember that 10 year old who was bullied and suicided on his driveway ?
This kid is only two years older and got ambushed by 15 teens! I would be after blood if this was my son.
I understand what you are saying, but my mind set went back to my tween & teen years of bare fisted fights. My pride was hurt more than my body. I landed in the hospital once and received six stitches in my lower lip and a seriously bruised up jaw where I couldn't chew food for a few days.
Mom: I'm going to kill those damn kids but first the mothers!
Dad: Did ya learn anything son? Dinner in 20, suck it up. We have straws for you.
My dad was a former Green Beret and my early childhood was hard work & eat the pain. Disrespect even in the slightest was meant with a belt. Respect your enemies, defend, don't attack. Pick your battles wisely, know when to walk (or run) away.
Anyhow, that summer at age 15 I spent hours in the gym pumping iron, ate 5-6000 calories per day (drove my mom nuts with the grocery bill), gained 25lbs of muscle mass + a karate class and a few lessons with dad on where to strike once & only once. That was my act of revenge.
Next school season nobody messed with me. Well, a few did but all landed on the ground, bloody, but not serious enough to require a hospital visit.
Kids today just aren't built (mind, body, spirit) like they were in previous century. Not their fault though and unfortunately, our society seems to have normalized violence first these days. Parents have to take part of the blame. After the 90s our culture has become more & more violent where today it's down to the 10, 11, 12, 13 year old's. Getting ambushed by 10 or more is just insane. Severe lack of discipline & respect and rationale has been replaced by violence. Everything has gotten so damn crazy and out of balance.
